There is no solid proof that it is 100% fact. that is where the "leap of faith" comes in. You either believe it or you don't. I mean, you have to read it intelligently, I'm not saying it's all completely taken on faith, but there is that element of uncertainty.

Both. The Bible is an interpretation of God's words through man. Being since it is passing through a man to get to us there will be misinterpretations, omitions and additions to suite mans desires. On a side note we aren't supposed to "worship" the bible itself, we are to revere it as a sacred document. One of the the things highly emphasized in the bible is that there is but one God to be worshiped and if we worship anyone or anything else than it is idolitry. Faith is also central to the message of the Bible. You have to understand that no one but you can build a relationship with God. It doesn't have to be strictly Bible based. To truley be spiritual you have to understand that there is more to and that God does not strictly exist between the front and back cover of a book. God is in and all around us. You have to pray for understanding and connection and it will be shown to you. Don't believe all that you read and don't take everything as literal, the Bible uses quite a bit of symbolizm and metephores. Of course the Ten Comandments are to be taken literally and other things as well but if you sit down and read the Bible you'll notice that when something is to be taken as exactly what it says, it will be preceded or followed by "...this I comand.." or something to that effect. Use your heart and sincerly pray for guidance. You'll find your own truth. If you don't know how to pray check out Matthew 6:12 to start. This is a basic prayer and you can go from there but don't be afraid to ask God for what you want. Keep the Faith. :-)

I'm sorry for any misspelled words, the spell check wasn't working and I grew up in an age where we depend on it.

The Bible is God's breathed word.
You can know that the Bible is the word of God by the following:
MANUSCRIPTS: The Bible's manuscripts are more accurate then any ancient writings of history, Not one thing that is stated in the Bible in descriptions of historical events have ever been discovered untrue. If you are talking about Aerostatle's writings you will only find 8-12 historical writings, the New testament you will find over 20500 and they are all accurately transcribed.
ARCHEOLOGY: Once again archeology continues to verify and prove all the happenings in the Bible. The leaders, such as Pontias Pilate and others are confirmed through not just the Bible but concurrent writings by other leaders of the time that mention such persons, including the person of Jesus Christ. interesting tidbit, one historian from an entirely different locale of Jerusalem, noted that they sky turned dark for several hours during the afternoon, (what happened when Jesus' died on the cross, there has never been an archeological find that disproves anything written in the Bible)
PROPHECIES: Mathematically it would be impossible for different authors to predict the same occurances, and the authors did not know one another, reference the prophecies in the book of Isaiah, written 720 B.C. and the prophecies in the book of Daniel written in 536 B.C. these prophecies predict countless events that have already occured and can be verified as well as predict not only when but also what will happen to the Messiah.
(example: psalm 22:1-21 references the agony that Christ will experience on the cross. Many many more, as well.
SCIENCE: One of the oldest books of the Bible, Job, mentions startling facts about our solar system that only God would have known. Example Job states that there is a hole in the sky to the north. Astronomers recently have discovered that directly north of our planet that there does seem to be a vast void, or hole to the north of us.
Many others as well. reference some of the sources listed, also as far as other 'holy' books, you will find that they do not stand up to this type of scrutiny, they have prophecies that never occured or they don't stand up to historical research.

Also, God isn't impersonal and doesn't want you to worship a book, he wants you to know and personally experience him and once you begin to do that you will find yourself wanting to read the word of God.
For a good description of Jesus and who he was reference the book of Mark in the New Testament.

I only accepted Jesus five years ago and my life has only gotten more exciting, joyful and fulfilling.

You shouldn't worship the stories but use them as an outline for how you should live or not life your life. As far as believing them, do research and read the Bible for yourself because some of the things that people say are in the Bible aren't. When you do research you will find that many of the things in the Bible have been found to have really occurred, ( like Noah and the Ark, researchers have found the Ark) In the end its all about what you believe.

I don't think that the bible is 100 percent on the money. I don't think most Christians do either. We don't worship the book. In sports, do you cheer for the rules? No, you know them, play by them, and use them as guidelines to enjoy the game and make it fair for everyone. The bible is essentially serves the same purpose. I think that many Christians are afraid to deviate from the path at all, and hold to the bible in the literal sense so they don't get lost. The bible was written thousands of years ago by people with ambiguous motivations and dubious morals. It was one of the first tools used in education. It has been translated, revamped, revised by royalty to suit their purposes... It's like playing telephone. I would only trust the original.

Aesop's Fables and Mother Goose were created by mere humans. God is the divine inspiration and author of The Bible. That would make a big difference. ...and we don't worship "stories." We worship Jesus, who gave his like so that mine would be spared.

It is factual.

Some proof of the facts.

66 books written by 40+ individuals over 1500 years. Nothing conflicts with the data.

In luke it talks about the Earth being round, something science did not prove until much later

Worship only Jesus Christ who died for all man kind that they might be saved from sin.

The Bible is what you want to believe. Everything around us is what you want to believe it is. We are told to follow the idea of one thing or another, and to despise the ideas of anything else. I think you should not ask other people, and go with what you want to believe. But then again, if you go with my advice, you'd be doing what another person told you, and not doing what you want to do. Sorry if this wording is a bit confusing, but what I am trying to get at is do not listen to other people's outlooks on life or religion. Believe in what you want to believe.

There is no inerrent text of The Bible in existance today. The original Texts, dictated by God to the original scribes, were inerrent. But none exist, haveing been lost well over 1500 years ago.

But I know, from The Truth of my Salvation, that God's word can still be found even in the man corrupted copies we have today...IF... the leading of the Holy Spirit is allowed by the seeker.

100% true. And if you ask muslims, they will tell you that their koran is also 100% true. It is all what you are brought up on, or what you choose to believe as you get older. And remember you can not possibly compare the Bible~the greatest~to a bunch of fairy tales. The bible is not a fairy tale at all.
