I'm trying to do this geneology project and one of my relatives became a nun. I think there must be a verb for it, akin to "ordination" (which is priests) but not just "taking vows." Any ideas?

When someone desires to become a nun, she is accepted into a particular religious order [ Like Carmelites, Poor Clares, etc..] at a particular convent or monastery.
For most, they enter the convent on a specified day and become Postulants. This usually lasts a year. Then she becomes a "novice" for two years. Then she makes her first profession and takes vows. After a period of a few years, she is then allowed to take solemn vows. Perhaps "entrance" or she "entered the convent" is the proper phrase?

In general, when a person enters a convent she has a trial period (Noviciate) that lasts a number of years. Upon completion of this period she may take her vows.

Could it be 'holy orders'? I know Catholics use that term in the sacraments. One chooses marriage or holy orders.
