I don't think of it that way, but you do make a good point.

Haha this is a good question. I was brought up in a southern baptist church. However now i really dont believe in any thing at all. When you die thats the end and most of society cant get past that. They believe the saying "Stand for something or you'll fall for any thing" Just the sudden STOP of life tends to scare them. I agree with you in the mention of it being a "club". Its some thing people use in the time of a death so that they can feel better about their lost. I have not written this to cause some kind of argument. I do believe the stars and position of the planets have allot to do with ones personality/destiny, but again this is like a religion i would suspect. We astrologers do not believe in life after death.

Personally, I follow through on my religion (Christian), a.k.a, relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit as much as I can. My entire life, I try, to devote to God. I'm not just saying this because I'm on the internet, but it really is a journey and life mission for me. It's more than a Sunday-morning Christian, or a habitual Christian. I do it all, to the best of my ability.
Some Christian, you'll see that don't do everything they are "suppose to do," and it doesn't mean that they are any less Christian. Being a Christian is a condition of the heart; at least it starts that way. If your soul is really intertwined with the Holy Spirit, then you will be transformed and renewed, you'll be a new creation and you will start to be changed from one degree of holiness to the next. this is called sanctification. Once you’re a Christian, it doesn't make you sinless or perfect; it's a process and the good work that is started in each Christian will not be made perfect until the day of resurrection. This is why you see so many "hypocritical" Christians. And it is true that some really are hypocritical, but because you see a Christian doing something bad, and not "following through" with their religion, it doesn't mean they don't want to or they don't struggle with not doing what it is they are doing. Even the Apostle Paul struggled with things. He said that he doesn't understand why he does the things you doesn't want to, but doesn't do the things he actually wants to. It's a constant battle, one that becomes easier and easier as you mature as a Christian.
This is just insight in to my religion, my relationship, with my God and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Religion and faith are two different things in the eyes of the spiritrual elders, faith is the foundation religions try to build on and thus far all have failed to do so .If you belong to a religion and you don't practice what they preach you best start looking for truth some where eles be side all the religious cults out there , in all only a few realy know what faith is and it is not going to a religiouse house or temple to pray between you and the faith you have find your own way tobring spiritual truth to your life.

Never have treated it as a club. never will. My belief is based on a very personal conviction by the HOly spirit, evidenced by miracles and answered prayer. My lifestyle reflects it for the most part, no man is perfect. I'm 31 never drank, did drugs, got into trouble of any kind, never walked away from my faith and am still a virgin. I do my best to treat people equally, christians non christians it doesnt matter. Everyone is my neighbor and therefore all deserving of the kindness i receive from God. I dont get worked up because someone decrys my faith, but i do give them an honest answer as to why my faith still stands after 26 years. It's a lifestyle to me, i'll die living for Jesus and the things He teaches me to do.

I'm not religious but I follow The Golden Rule. I make no exceptions to it. If someone is treating me badly, I treat them the same way I want to be treated. Through my life I have found that being in control and level headed makes my life much easier. If I flew off the handle and succumbed to other's emotional flaws, I would be in a small boat lined up next to them in a vast ocean all alone.

I try. I have a cross around my neck and you might see me do something that doesn't seem very christian. You see, christians sin. They just shouldn't be living in it. I try and let people know where I stand. If I act up, they let me know. My friends (some don't believe), my co-workers, etc. If they are correct, then I feel horrible, but sometimes they have me under such a tight microscope that I feel they expect me to be perfect just cuz I believe in God and tell everyone about it. We're not perfect. We just believe in someone who is.
I sin less now than I did 10 yrs ago, and I know that I'll sin even less 10 yrs from now. But all in all, I'll still be a sinner.

I don't have a RELIGION, I have REALITY. And if I hadn't a learned my FAITH Lesson's and diligently praticed them, I would be dead today. It's not easy following JESUS, and sometime's down right dangerous. The devil is 24-7, and he can play some trick's on you that take's a long time to come out of, and some attack's that if you get into FEAR, well, what-ever. JESUS is LORD. Amen. Ditto.

I think you make a very good point. I think it is very easy to fall into the trap of letting the rituals replace love and obedience. If we are born into a religion, often we never think about it, but just "go through the motions". Often, those who convert are more passionate, because they have thought about their choice.

I'm not religious I'm spiritual, and I have my own relationship with God. Yes. I follow through on whatever it is I believe I should be doing and I ask for directions when I start to lose my way.

I have no religion. I don't need to pay some organization to talk to the higher power that I believe to be, and to tell me how to live a moral life.
