ever since its its beginnings the christian faith has resolutely fought on every level every technological advance we have ever had as a civilization. they tried to stop doctors from curing people in the early years cuz only jesus could heal. they said the earth was flat, they said we are the center of the universe. they said that galileo and copernicus were heretics. they censored much of leanardo da vincis work. even today they would rather make liver problems suffer dialysis treatments when genetic research could clone a replacement liver that the host body would not reject because it really is its own? ever since the apple of adam and eve was symbolized as the knowledge of good and evil and things they have seriously seriously set our technological advancement back. they even burn books and destroyed the alexandria library because many of the documents went against the bible! all that knowledge they flushed down the toilet. how much longer do we have to survive the christian ego?

morality is a concept that befits a civilization that makes mistakes and a surviving civilization could see its mistakes and guard against it. example we have great checks and balances in the nuclear science field because of the cost of the mistakes in that field this is all do to careful science planning and ethics and has NOTHING to do with christian morality

why do people think that a person who belongs to a faith that deserves some recognition and retribution for sufferences leveled against them because they are deemed devil worshippers? i am wiccan i dont think a satan exsists and yet christians automatically assume i make sacrifices to him in worship. i have opened up within myself areas of truth that would not exisist at all in christian dogma. no knowledge would be allowed. as for the studies we already have it was shown quite plainly to christians they were wrong to think the earth was flat(some still think that way) and we let them get off with a opps my bad?

i am glad i got a lot of you to think for yourself and not a child molesting priest to tell you what to think.. no its not entirely the christian faith to blame, the politics we have today seems to do well but let me remind you that all the politics we have today was a standard set by the roman catholic church in the first holy roman empire. at that level its impossible to determine which is politics and which is organized religion. i know some wonderful christians that would not be so wonderful otherwise and in the army i learned if it works dont fix it. i leave them alone. but if we continue to allow the political and religious agenda stand as is we of course will suffer all the propaganda end times they predicted in their religious works. you dont need to be george orwell to see that.

hate to burst all your bubbles, but it was the catholics that made and control the bible of today. only the pope and the cardinal heirachy would be considered authority enough to change it. therefor anyone proclaiming belief in the bible is at their base level catholic. no way around it.

You have some valid questions for sure. And observations. There are certainly wonderful things to learn in Christianity, but I did find it to be lacking in a certain amount of substantial knowledge. One needs real knowledge to back up the sentiment of a spiritual belief system. Christianity took me just so far, but it just didn't go deep enough...for me that is. I had alot of questions that the Christian faith just would not answer. And don't tell me that I'm not "meant" to know the answers to my questions. If I have the question in the first place, I know there's an answer....and I'm going to find it. Somehow I know that that is what God would want me to do...it's all so much fun, too!

As a Christian I completely agree. Most of what you experience though is through a narrow perspective. If you honestly think that ONLY Christians did those things and wanted those things to be challenged or destroyed then you need to check who is writing the history books you're reading.
Many of the decisions that drive church decision-making, both now and 2000 years ago, have been politically motivated. The church carries with it a lot of power to a lot of people, so governments have always used the church for their own agenda, and the church also has used governments for their own.
I believe that it can be healthy in any culture to have a spiritual perspective on every aspect of life. Science, government, law...all those arenas need a spiritual voice, as well as a secular voice.
Personally, I differentiate between religion (icons, lack of critical thinking skills, fear of change) and Christianity (freedom, enabling others, change). With that definition it is easy to see why religion creates an environment that hates new information and ideas. BUT true Christianity will embrace new ideas, so long as they are not in direct conflict with Christ.

Many religions, governments, races have done some real crappy things. The question is, what is Christianity doing to harm knowledge today. You talk about stem cell research. Christians are against the destruction of human embrios. Do you not know that Stem cells can be harmlessly harvested from ebillical chord fluid? They can also be harvested in Adults. By the way, If you were on dialysis, it would be your kidneys that weren't working right.

This is a false statement. Over the past two thousand years, 80% of technological advancements, inventions, and discoveries have been made by those with Judeo-Christian backgrounds and/or beliefs.

As for some of the statements you made, actions as such were mostly advocated by the Catholic church or Catholic-based churches, most of which perverted the Word of God for their own selfish desires. Study church history and you will see how false interpretations of the Bible were made leading to irrational decisions led by the "church leaders" who deviated from the true meanings of God's Word and so led their bodies with them.

I myself am a Christian, and I am always on the pursuit of knowledge. For example, I am always reading books, magazines, and newspapers trying to learn as much as I can. I in school, and as my school does not offer many language courses, I am studying etymology and memorizing Greek and Latin prefixes, roots, and sufixes to increase my vocabulary. I plan to go into business and am studying books on macro- and microeconomics given to me by dad.

Please do not make such an offensive and false statement unless you have genuine facts and evidence and not just opinion.

P. S.
You believe that Christians hate knowledge "so so bad," but I believe it is your grammar that is "so so bad."

It was the ignorance of the day that caused all that you mention... Not the teachings of Jesus The Christ.

All science is from God. Thus, all science is good. The evil done with science is from man mucking about with it and misusing it...and, in ignorance refusing to learn...Those of The Church are God's Stewards on Earth. It is our obligation to learn all we can of God's creation inorder to be better stewards.

The Library at Alexandria was burnd accidntaly if I remember correctly..... and if you bring up the acts of the Roman Church calling it's self catholic... As it is not even Christian you can not claim any acts it commited were by True Christians.

My guess is that Christianity is mostly static: it goes on the basis of eternal truths. If what the church believes is the truth, and has been the truth forever, then naturally it will be very resistant to changes, since changes indicate deviation from the set truth.

Knowledge? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

(NOT A VIRGIN BIRTH! - betcha never knew that.)

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Gods do not die? Do they?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us? Big deal!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

If you swallow this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to swallow it too.

Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.

Believing and not thinking is like choosing a mental illness and becoming lost.

Because many have been deceived by false prophets into believing that homophobia is "loving" and "moral." That way, instead of repenting of the sin of homophobia, they can feel good about wallowing in it some more. And the false prophets rake in lots and lots of $$$ from reviling and harming God's gay children, so they aren't going to move from the money trough.

I have a better question for you. Why do people who are not Christians care so much about what Christians do? Do their beliefs harm you in any way...NO! Why do you stress their beliefs, you can believe what you want to, so why can't they?
