I think that Da Vinci was an atheist and he could not accept the bible as it is written. I think his objective was to dismantle the bible by discrediting Jesus Christ as the son of God. Does the bible mention Da Vinci? No. The crux of christianity is that believers accept the bible as is. No adding or subtracting anything from it. I saw the movie and I think that Ron Howard did a good job, but even he said it's just a movie. Now, on the other other hand, the author of The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown. He claims that Jesus Christ had a relationship with Mary Magdaline and that a child was conceived. Sorry - Da Vinci just didn't make the cut to get in the bible. Ha Ha Ha Ha

Well, I think it plausible that Mary Magdalene and Jesus had a relationship that was different than portrayed by the official church versions. Especially since apparently new findings suggest there were other versions of the story of their relationship that says he kissed her and that she may not have been a prostitute.
I have no way to know if they were married or if they had a child, but admit its very plausible for a hebrew man in his early 30s to be under pressure to be married and to have a family and that its unusual for a man in that time and place not to be married. I also take it as plausible that early church "fathers" suppressed facts about Mary Magdalene because it would have taken away from the concept that Jesus was divine and in some ways "special" as a person. Giving him a wife would have made him more human. And, I think it safe to conclude that the early church "fathers" manipulated the bible a great deal--editing what's in it and leaving out books that didn't fit--the apocrypha and certain versions of the gospels that read very differently than the officially included books. The bible we know today is a work of compilers and editors who had biases and certain goals to achieve with their versions of the bible.
I am pretty sure that child did not go to Europe or that the child became part of the line of Merovingian Kings of France.
I would suggest that the DaVinci Code is what Dan Brown himself pretty much confirms--a great mystery yarn woven from bits and pieces of accurate religious history.
In short, some of it may be accurate and other parts are sheer fantasy. The question you ask has no official answer, its a matter of what you believe, much like religion in general--faith, not fact.

If you actually look at what the Bible says, Mary Magalene is mentioned as one of several women who contributed to Jesus financially. She is mentioned again as been one of three women who were present a Jesus crufixion, and one of five women who went to the tomb on Easter morning to annoint his body for burial. She was the first to Jesus resurrected.
That is a total of everything said about her in the Bible. There is no hint of any kind of a special relationship between her and Jesus.
In the DiVinci code, the author uses some writings known as the gnostic gospels (books about Jesus that first appeared about 300 years after his resurrection when Christianity became a legal, and very popular, religion in the Roman Empire) as his character's source for the claim of a marriage and child. I have read all of the gnostic writings mentioned (years before the DiVinci Code was published). Not a one of the writings makes a mention of any relationship, marriage, or child between Jesus and Mary.
In fact, other than one reference in the Gospel of Thomas, where Jesus rebukes on of the disciples for putting her down because she is only a woman, Mary Magalene is not even mentioned.
Many of the facts Dan Brown list in the DiVinci code are wrong. He claims the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the 1950's when they actually first appeared in 1947.
He claims that they include over 80 others gospels of Jesus, when in fact the Dead Sea scrolls are all JEWISH not Christian writing that date 100 to 150 years BEFORE the time of Jesus.
The author claims the pyramid in front of the Louve has 666 glass panels. It doesn't.
He claims that DiVinci called his painting the "Mona Lisa" because of its anagram value - when the name Mona Lisa was first used in the 1920s, and in English, not the Italian DiVinci spoke.
If one of the disciples at in the Last Supper painting is Mary, then where is the missing disciple? We are a person short.
And why are they eating leavened bread and fish at a meal that was the Jewish Passover? Should be unleavened bread and lamb.
I could go on, but what is the point.
The book is a work of fiction. Totally...

Of course it is not a true story, even the author Dan Brown says so. The reason some Churches were upset about it was because they were afraid some people would take it as a true story, which it certainly is not. I have done tons of research about the gnostic gospels and such legends and myths prior to the book and movie. i have found nothing that would indicate that the story is true.

Jesus (?) was a preacher in his times. Lots of material was lost and words got twisted through translation. It is possible that Jesus and Mary were married and had children. The Catholic Church which was extremely powerful could have destroyed or suppressed a lot of works and records that could have been contradictory to their teachings.
I even had a discussion with this person who got angry when I referred to Jesus as Yesu Christhu. He thought that was blasphemy. Who cares? The Aramic name is Yesu. It was anglicized to Jesus. Miriam or Mariam became Mary. Pavlos or Pavulos become Paul, Ouseph became Joseph.
