personally i think its wrong to go to another country to try and convert people to a different religion or way of life just because its what you believe in.this seems very egotistical and controlling to me!!

however i do believe that alot of missionary's are well meaning and i know that they do help alot of people who are facing poverty, famine, civil war etc......

whats your opinion???

well, i am studying to be a missionary. Once i am old enough to go. that is what God has called me to do . We arn't trying to push things on them, but they may have never heard the story of Jesus, and I can spread the word, and cure the sick. Medical missionary.

Well since most missionary's arent pointing a gun to someones head, let them be. Although they preach it loud and proud, deciding to follow Christ and beleive the gospel missionary's preach is an individual decision. Every tribe and culture that missionary's visit benefit in some way. Why not try and educate them with a different point of view. You have that opportunity to believe whatever you want cause you've been educated to see the options. they get the same options when a visit comes their way. And life improvement too.

Missionaries go and help people in third countries and give them a "oh by the way, there's a better way with Christ." It's a disguise to convert them, and then the missionaries usually get eaten. They taste like chicken. That's what I've heard. :)

Spreading the Good News of the Gospel is what Christ called us to do. If you truly believe and have faith in Christ as your Lord and Savior, you should be compelled by love to evangelize.
By the way, spreading the Word that Jesus died for their sins so that others may inherit eternal life, is an act of love. You do not coerce anyone into believing anything...you share the Good News and give those living in darkness a light.
Unlike radical muslims who demand you believe what they believe through death and intimidation, spreading the Word of Christ is just that...and done in love. Do not be ashamed of that.

well meaning missionaries are a good thing. the ones that go build homes and teach the gospel for a few hours a day to any that will listen are fine by me...

however there are ones out their that force their religion on others by requireing people that live in their homes to attend regular church services and such...

my biggest problem is with the "door knockers" that are constantly trying to push their religion into my home...

missionaries are doing what the bible tells them to do... go and preach the good news. hopefully they are also sharing the practical love of christ by helping feed, clothe, and take care of the poor. however, the ultimate goal is to spread the news that man's relationship with God can be made right. the same reason they feed folks is the same reason they share how christ changed their life and can change anyone's who is willing to change.

Don't worry about the missionary thing, worry about you. Settle your destination before you worry about others.

there are people God has called to go into the world to teach people about him, and to help othere people. see they are not going to change you they can only tell you what God has told us in the Bible. Infect the only one that can change you is you, that is if you look for the truth. I also had people telling me this and that but for me the real truth was when I took the time to lisen to the bible. but if it was not for othere telling me i would not have even thought about the bible. peace and joy to you
