I know you prabably don't care. Seems like they 're having some voting problems. I hope that this Presidente is going to make a difference for the people that live there. If the country fixes it's problems then the people will stay in the country.

The problems in Mexico are not that easy to solve. From a 70 year period of a reigning PRI party, the struggle for political stability is still ongoing. This election was very controversial because although after the failure for "a change" people expected with Fox, people had to vote for the PAN because the opposition party PRD had a leftists candidate that was a danger to Mexico's economy if he won. The razor thin margin was historic for Mexico, where only around 40 percent vote, whereas this time, more than 70% voted. Most people voted for PAN just because they were fearful of an economic crisis if this guy Lopez Obrador won the elections. So Lopez Obrador accused the Federal Electorate Institute of fraud. So a re-count was done and once again it was proven that the candidate for PAN Felipe Calderon had won, 35.89% against his PRD opponent 35.32%.
Its not easy to get 50 million people out of ignorance and poverty, especially if its their way of life and are reluctant to change. There are two Mexico's and now the new President will have to somehow unify them both socially and economically, a real tough challenge he will have.

It's not entirely the Presidente responsiblity: In the US the very rich as well as businessmen recognize the needs of the people. Much of the high standard of living has come about thru foundations of the very rich and businessmen, Case in point; Henry Ford realized the need for an affordable automobile, thus the need for paved streets, and infrastructure. Wealth as well has high office carries a responsibility to the needs of the people. Only if the wealthy, businessmen work together with Presidente will conditions for the poor improve.

Calderon is another Fox....

He is a conservative and for middle class and wealthy Mexicans. Its a shame he won, I don't see the illegal situation getting any better, in fact, expect more illegal migration.

I really believe the election was a fraud and I feel that Obrador was the true winner, but the powers that be didn't allow his victory. They don't want the common folks to obtain any power and Orbrador might have provided that.

There is no hope for Mexico. It is so corrupt and thats why the poor mexicans are forced to leave. There is nothing there for them. Too bad those poor mexicans are so god damned dumb that they still remain loyal mexicans even though they leave that shithole of a country. They wave their mexican flags and speak spanish, even though their corrupt leaders forgot about them long ago. Stupido amigo, ah karumba!

Nothing will save Mexico because it has fallen too far.

the people of Mexico wanted the leftist canidate but those who control the government wanted to keep the conservatives in power. many believe the election was rigged. a better economy and less crime would do wonders for Mexico.

I doubt the difference will be fast enough to do much for this generation. What they need is universal education. I hope he gives them that -- but doubt he will.
