I think girls fall quicker and guys fall harder. I've seen instances where a girl tells a guy they love the guy first. But as the relationship guys on they break up with guy for seemingly no apparent reason. And when pressed for an answer they say they need space. And while the guy is busy complaining, punching walls, and feeling lost. The girl is calling him but only to be friends and is already talking to other guys. Girls just seem so heartless after a breakup especially if it was a mutual break up or she broke up with him.

why does anyone fall deep in love with anyone? its HUMAN, not just a woman thing to fall so far in love, you can't even understand why you're doing it. It just always seems like women only do that because they're more expressive, and share and show emotion much more willingly than men are taught or often allowed. Doesn't mean a man isn't capable of that depth.
But being HUMAN, we need that connection, we crave it. Its an aspect of our mind, bodies and soul. Without it, all we end up doing is going from one night stand to one night stand - empty and hollow. Being Human, means wanting more, and nothing propels us further than love.
