i think that your sister is going to regret allowing this type of video games for her son.Video games are not the best "babysitters".Parenting is quite a big responsibility.SHE should be aware that allowing inappropriate games and behavior for her son is really harmful. You have to love your child enough to raise them so that other people will like them.No one likes a crude child. Besides, many of these video games fill kids heads with garbage!!!

Video game had become the babysitter for most household, it is a shame really. Grand Theft Auto is not for 7 year olds, the cover has a rating just like the movies. A caring mother should follow these guidelines. When my son was that little, he had never seen a video games except for when he goes at Chuckie Cheese or amuzement parks, he had his first video game when he was 10 years old. I dont buy him games, we rent. He is only allowed 1 hour every weekend.

No i think especially for a 7 year old they see things and remember it so if he thinks its cool in the came to kill people or use a jun he may be more farmilliar with it once he is older. So i would be very careful.
so now tell him that in real life using a gun (and all of the bad things on there) is bad and you would never what him to do it.
I have played it but i was old enough to no i would never want to kill someone i just liked getting the cars and driving and finding new places.
But at 7 they dont no waht they want yet and you dont no who they are going to be. If you tell him he cant play it he may just remember all of the things he did on it though so be sure to say what i told you to say above. and be strun and serious.
Say i dont like you playing that game its is not a kind thing to do and i dont want you EVER doing That in real life ever!
maybe once he sees you dont like it he wont want to unplease you and will stop playing it. I would have cause i always feel guilty
Good luck :)

I let my children play video games, but they are both girls and so they are not drawn to the violent games that boys are. I am very much aware of what they play, the 8 Yr old plays Zoo Tycoon 2 and Catz/Dogz. My older daughter plays The Sims 2, various Pokemon games and Nintendogs. The 8 year old wants to play Sims 2, but is not allowed because I feel she is too young.

I don't have a child, but I've got a seven year old sister. My dad lets her play GTA, and I can't stand it because it is such a filthy game. The game is rated mature, so anyone under 17 should not be playing it. Seven year old children are very impressionable. You're sister should not allow him to play such a graphic game. Educational games or anything rated 'E' for everyone are the only appropriate games for his age.

My son is 8, I have let him play games like Vice City, but I can also tell you that he does not and will not curse!
It depends on if the child realizes that this is fake!
My son knows that the games he plays (when he plays them) are not real, they are for fun only and that the stuff he is doing in the game does not go on in the real world.

GTA is not an appropriate game to be played by a seven year old. I let my 10 year old play games that are rated T or lower, no M rated games. Your sister will learn her lesson when your nephew tells his teach to shut the f*ck up or he will put a cap in her a$$. Child services will be knocking at her door.

My husband plays that game and we argue over whether or not it is suitable for our 4 year old to watch. Kids are witnessing more and more vulgur things these days. I think it is wrong but at the same time its not going to teach your child to step off the porch and murder someone and go get a whore! I just think that they can have fun playing a game for their age so why give them an adult game.

The game in itself isnt necessarily bad. I am 14 years old, and was 8 when I played my first realistic shooting game. I have not been affected in any way whatsoever (except maybe I know the names of more guns, LOL) I am an upstanding citizen of the US and my community, and participate in community service, top of my class, avid life scout, and Youth Advisory Board member of Students Against Violence everywhere.
The point is, that the problem is not in the game, but how one interprets them. I knew that the game was a load of crap, since my parents explained to me that hurting people, and doing all that stuff on the game was bad and I should never do any of that. They explained to me that the game was fantasy, and that interpreting any of that into real life is wrong, and that is how I learned how to distinguish right from wrong in that game. It is the parents' responsibility to instill morals in their children, and to teach them right from wrong. No offense, but obviously your sister is being highly irresponsible by not teaching her child that, as shown by the kick of the hookers and his excessive cursing. Obviously the child is not mature enough to understand that the game is just for fun, and not intended to be interpreted in real life. You must tell your sister this, and tell her to take the game away, until he understands the concept of morals and can fully distinguish right from wrong. Your sister must accept way more responsibility and teach him better, as her ignorance may lead to his demise.
