acutally babies are born with the instinctual ability to hold their breath under water...as far as opening their eyes it shouldnt harm them unless you see obvious irritation after they have been swimming

unfortunetaly it is a trial and error kinda thing finding out what your child can and cannot do...

Every childs swimming ability is at a different level. Some kids learn how to swim at a very young age, they even have swim lessons for infants. Others will be 6,7 or 8 years old and still not know some of the basics or fell comfortable with going under water without holding their nose. As for the goggle thing some people open their eyes under water w/o goggles and others do not and if shes comfortable doing it then shes ok. If she is not choking from taking in water or crying becasue she has water in her nose then it is fine for her to go under water without holding her nose.

I consider DeafDyke. in spite of the undeniable fact that little ones flow by using developmental stages, that's unusual for a toddler to have a unexpected substitute from "ok" to "crying" with an identical stimulus (removing a coat, and so on.). this could be purely a element of a few type, yet likely you should examine with the mothers and fathers to work out if she is continuously behaving this way. maximum suitable to analyze and discover that she's ok than to enable some thing flow ignored.

oh, sure, it's normal and perfectly ok! Kids learn from seeing others to physically plug their nose--it's not really necessary to do, water won't go in unless you inhale it in. As far as opening her eyes under water, that's not a problem either, although if your pool chemicals are high she might have some burning sensation and redness.

I think it's fine that she isn't plugging her nose, but I think it's best for her to use goggles when she is underwater, just to be safe.

its not good on her eyes o open them under water. especaly if its a chlorinated pool. the chlorine is not good on her eyes can irritate them or it can make her loose some vission in here eyes from it.. and as for not plugging her nose i dont see anything wrong with that. its normal cause thay dont really knoe to plug there nose.

It's great that she's so fearless and natural in the water, but keep an eye on her! She may overestimate her abilities. Get this child swimming lessons! She's ready!

a 10 month old can swim underwater with eyes open, of course, you have to teach him/her first.........

I'd ask my Pediatrician and I'd also watch her very, very carefully because she apparently has no fear at all of the water and at her age, that could be really dangerous!!!
