I am a 14 year old guy growing my hair out. It's about 5 inches most of the way around now. Problem is its pretty thick but fine too and its hard to style in any way. I think it'll be better when its longer and my mom's stylist agrees, but its frustrating right now. I am getting tempted to cut it off again LOL, but don't want to really. I'd like to be able to just brush it back away from my face/eyes, but it tends just to flop forward. Unless I can grow out my bangs long enough so they stay back, it'll do that.

Anyway, my mom's stylist suggested to her last time she saw my mom that I try a body wave as a last resort. She said it'll make my hair easier to style. Is this true?

What does it really involve getting it done? How long does it last etc? I've tried looking some things up on the web but I got a bit confused as some things talked about perms and stuff like that. And other hits were for board surfing lol.

Thx

Body wave is another term for hair restructuring. That probably doesn't help. In the bad old days, hair restructuring was called 'permanent waving' and your only option was to take straight hair and put in enough curl to last for months or until you grew out enough hair that you had to re-do it on the not-so-curly sections (thus the 'permanent' part of 'perm')
In the last two decades or so, our ability to reform the hair has taken some real leaps forward, including "low curl" or "no curl" so that relaxers, straighteners, or 'perms' used to build volume instead of curl (body waves or so called "root perms") can be a real help - they reduce maintenance and give you a lot more options on how to wear your hair without fussing over it.
But there are downsides - some people are sensitive to the chemicals involved, it usually takes a skilled technician (sorry home perm fans), and you may not be able to consider coloring or highlighting your hair depending on what's done to it.
The upside - you can usually get a great, easy to maintain look for the price of an hour or two in a salon.

Yeah like some others have said, a body wave is basically like a soft perm. It is a perm. You get your hair put onto plastic rods/rollers and then they apply a perm solution. They use bigger rods for body waves than curlier perms. Then you sit there for about 30 mins while it processed. Then they rinse that out, put some neutralizer on it. Sit for a while longer while that takes, then they wash it out. Then you can style it. All told it probaby takes a couple of hours.

I don't think you need to do anything too special to style it after.

It'll last in theory until it grows out (its permanent) but in reality I think the curl/wave will "drop out" sooner than a regular perm. So maybe after 6-8 weeks it won't be so obvious. You may need to do it every 3 months or so.

Good luck.

A body wave is just a regular perm. The difference is that it is done with larger rods and normally a gentler solution is used. If your hair is only five inches long it's going to be hard to fit a large wave rod around it. Anything smaller than a one inch diameter rod is going to give you curls, not waves. Good luck--and remember--don't ever put any chemicals on your hair unless it's very healthy!!!

I've had body waves. Its like a really loose perm and it does make it easier to style in the meantime.

Good luck!

the sole distinction is he length of the curl...physique wave has better curls while perm has smaller ringlet curls. Having it performed will take approximately 6 steps: putting hair in curlers putting on the perm formula rinsing conditioner rinse trim your hair finding on hair length and thickness it is going to take 2 one million/2 to 4 hours provide or take. the quantity of time that it will final relies upon on how briskly your hair grows, if it grows an inch a 12 months you'll have it performed as quickly as a 12 months b/c you have got roots. they are particularly trouble-free to take out, all you do is placed the perm on yet as a replace of setting up the curlers you will basically brush your hair and shop it as we talk for sort of 40 5-60 minutes finding on how tight the curls are. bear in mind that once you have it performed you is basically no longer waiting to brush your hair whilst it fairly is dry for 2 motives one million) your hair would be puffy 2) it is going to slowly take your perm out desire it enables
