Go to a Hair Salon with properly licensed personnel.

You need to bleach it first. You can get bleach from Sally's Beauty Supply, or a drug store. You may want to do this on a Friday night, so your hair can rest 2 days, then color it on Sunday. Check your hair frequently while the bleach is on, it doesn't have to lose all the color , just light enough for your new shade of brown to be the tone you want.

There are a few ways to strip your haircolor, and NO don't bleach it. One is with denatured alcohol and conditioner, but that only works on certain formulas. The other is with a chemical stripper.

Either way, you need to have a professional stylist do this. Tell him or her exactly which brand you used to color it so that they use the right process to strip it. Done yourself and done wrong, your hair will fry and break off in your hands...which is what bleaching it will do for you.

Once you strip it and get it back to your natural color, condition it weekly with a deep conditioner and avoid highlighting or other coloring for several months. Stripping the hair will leave it very vulnerable to damage if you don't have a professional stylist use the right products on it.

Don't bleach. You'll screw up your hair. There are kits that you can buy in drugstores that will remove haircolor from your hair. Look for them in beauty supply stores. Use that according to directions, then give your hair a few days. Then, try a new color. I'd go temporary first. You may decide you hate it and want to try blonde or red next.

Dye it an Ash Blonde, that should make it go to a brunette color. If it isn't the color you want, wait two weeks, then dye it the color you want, then do a deep conditioning treatment to it. The deep conditioning treatment doesn't cost more that 5 dollars at the drug store, and it makes your hair shiney and soft, and restores the health of your hair.

you can try stripping it first...if you dont want the bleach but if you have to go with bleach go to sallys beauty supplies, and ask an associate for the best bleach for your situation. I would suggest stripping it though before bleach, its not as damaging to your hair and its pretty pocket freindly

black is the hardest color to take out!! you'll probably have to go by a color stripper and maybe bleach it but when i tried to bleach my black hair it didn't work very well i suggest going to a hairstylist and having them bleach it!

There is a new hair dye i jsut saw at walmart and Walgreens it's for brunettes, can't think of the name of it. It's for when you want dark hair lighter. I have tried it and love it. Jsut look around at the boxes and it will say for brunettes...
