Depends on what you are doing to cut calories.
1. Count your normal caloric intact for a week.
2. cut that by a percentage. Say 10%
3. Start an exercise program. Walking/jogging
4. If you use an electric blanket in the winter don't. Using one will put on ten pounds over the winter. Even if you do nothing different.
Drink water every time you are tempted to snack.
Following this program will help you loose one to two pounds/week.
Avoid empty calories. If you want chocolate eat peanut m & m's that way you get peanuts too.(protein)

A rule of thumb for healty and susainable weight loss on a regimen that includes diet and exercise would be an average of 1.5 -2.5 pounds per week. The rate will obviously vary over time as you reach and pass plateaus. All that having been said, my wife at the age of 38 took 18 months to lose 85 pounds and kept all but 15 pounds of it off for over 3 years, until recent medical problems made her gain weight.

It depends what you do to lose the weight. I have a friend that lost 60 lbs in one month on the ShapeWork program. I have lost 6 lbs and 7.25 inches in my first week. But everyone is different, and ofcourse men tend to lose weight faster than women. I do recommend you try this program. These are all natural, the safest and healthies weight loss program out there. Go to www.beaturlbs.com for more info. You cannot find these in stores. Email me if you have any questions :)

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

If you weigh 85 pounds, not until you die. 85 pounds could take a very long time to lose. Imagine, for every year it took to get 85 pounds overweight, it will probably take twice that long to lose.

Much longer than it took to gain it - for sure. It's easier to put weight on - especially when we take in more calories, fats, etc and do not exercise to get rid of them. I would invest in a good diet program AFTER a complete physical from my doctor. A good doctor should be able to discuss how much weight you want to loose which is comparable to your frame. Even though you want to loose, you just need to start decreasing your caloric intake first. Drink plenty of water to flush out impurities, etc. For example, if you have been eating approximately 3000 calories per day -cut your food intate to 1500 - you won't starve, and you will still loose weight. Exercise helps you firm up. When you diet, believe me, the fat will settle - and if you don't exercise, it will settle on top of itself - you want to firm up. Join a gym if you can afford it - walk, walk, walk. Park far away from the store and walk. Take the stairs when you can. Read encouraging material (books) from others who have lost weight, and don't be hard on yourself. I want to loose 100. I have about 95 to go.....

it totally depends on what you do! if you only like run every day for an 30 minutes but don't change your other lifestyles, then you'll probably not get anywhere. you could also go like on a diet, like nutrisystem, jenny craig etc. or if you had like a workout machine like the bow-flex or something. you can watch like any channel, especially in mornings where they have a bunch of infomertials and you're bound to find a weight loss one.

A big portion of this would depend on the person trying to lose the weight. If one were to really put their all into it, in my opinion, it can be done in a healthy manner in 6 to 8 months.
