I'm not sure why you would want to do that, but my suggestion would be if you want to seperate the litter from the mama, I would put both in seperate rooms. the mama will get upset with you and try to claw at the door, but other than that thats the only way I can think of besides finding new homes for the kitties when they are ready.

What I did when my mother cat had her kittens was , I just kept taken them away from her so that she could't nurse any more, but it's a known fact that cats will want to nurture their babies for as long as they can they will even try after they are no longer producing any more milk for them to drink this is natural for them to do. Cats are vary nurturing and they take care of their off spring just like they would if they where in the wild. denise n.

You should really let her nurse unless your vet tells you not to let her because of a med. condition. The kittens need the milk to be healthy, no other artificial formulas can really compete.

If your trying to wean them from her just keep them in a room she can't get into. But it's always best to just let her do it her clock will tell her when its time they do it naturally. Just let her be.

why do want her to stop nursing, she quit when she knows their old enough to eat on their own. kittens are supposed to nurse from their mother how do you think they get their nutrition for them to grow. Duh!

Why do you want to?

When the kittens are old enough, she WILL stop them, herself.
