Firefox and Opera are less popular that Internet Explorer, with only about 15% of computer users using them. So the virus and spyware makers have not bothered to design attacks for them - yet. They go after IE.
Plus, both prevent a lot of behind the scenes, automatic things, like active-x scripts, from running without your permission. This makes it much difficult for a spyware to install itself on your PC without your knowledge. They do nothing to prevent you from downloading a program that has spyware (or a virus) in it and then installing it yourself. So it is still possbile to get infected using either Firefox or Opera, but you have to do it to yourself.
Plus I like the tab feature in Firefox that allows me to have multiple web pages open at a time. So I can have a reference open in one window to use to answer a YA question in another. Firefix is my browser of choice.
But, the same things that make Firefox and Opera less likely to be hacked or infected, also make them not work on some pages. I can not view some streaming video sites, and I can not do online banking with one of my banks (can with three others). So I keep IE around for the 5% of pages that don't work well with Firefox.

Yes, Opera Web Browser lowers the chances of getting a spyware attack and is the fastest and safest web browser, but the only thing is, Opera ain't widely used so some websites don't support Opera, for example, the new Yahoo! homepage and Yahoo! Mail Beta. Firefox is also good and supports way more websites than Opera does.

YES... YES YES YES YES!!! Its becuase IE, Intenet Explorer, is really buggy and has many holes. Not to mention IE is over 5 years old, with very little change to its source code. Where as Firefox, is very stable. I USE I AM A TECH, I Tell EVERYONE WHO has ever had spyware, viruses, and any other unwanted from the internet, USE FIREFOX BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!

Firefox is less busy than IE. Jump on....it's faster. Make sure you have an anti-virus installed, a spy blocker & block all the popups. There seems to be less junk using firefox.

Microsoft will be coming out with version 7 of Internet Explorer soon. So keep an eye open for that. Right now it's in the beta stage and can be found here.
