How do I get my recipe to market??

Question

I have thought of a great recipe and have researched it. No one has thought of this great idea!! And I want to get it to market. How do I do this. its a frozen food product. I am having it Trademarked (the name rather) and the directions patented. I have contacted compaines,I am not giving UP!! However I would love some advice..Thanks so much!! Heather

It sounds like you have the right idea.

First, protect your intellectual property. Then look for existing companies to market it. Remember that the process of making it might also need protection.

You can also start your own brand name (company) and then contract someone else to produce your product in their facility. This is VERY common. Many food processing facilities package somewhat similar products (that can be made on the equipment they have) for a variety of different brand labels.

If all else fails, try to find a partner you can trust that has successful experience in marketing similar products. Partnerships are very careful decisions, so don't jump into one unless you really have to and you really trust your partner.

You have to go through different companies' marketing departments. Their people have sales targets and a great idea like yours might help them.
