We know from Heb. 9:27 of the PARTICULAR JUDGMENT. And we know from Matthew 25:31-32 of the GENERAL JUDGMENT. We also know, from the writings of the early Christians, that all believed in purgatory, as taught by the apostles, until the revolt sixteen centuries removed from Christ.

Since Rev. 21:27 teaches that nothing unclean will enter the presence of God in heaven, and St Paul teahces that, if a righteous man's work fails the test, "He will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire" (1 Cor 3:15), my question for you is, where did Christ go when He preached to the spirits in prison between His death and resurrection?

First of all their is no such thing as purgatory and do not be mislead by that teaching.

I agree that we all die once and after death Judgement.(Heb.9:27) Some to everlasting life because they lived in Christ and some to everlasting death those who lived with out Christ.

Matthew 25 if you read it in its contexts means that Christ is coming at an our that none of us will expect. When He comes will He come finding us doing His good work or find us in sin

If your read further in Matthew 25:33-46 it says it plain and clear which you failed to mention. He seperates the believers from the non-believers. The believers enter Heaven and Non-believers enter the Lake of Fire forever without Jesus Christ. No purgatory!!

You took 1 Cor.3:15 out of context and If you read the whole chapter Paul explains himself.
1Co 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1Co 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
1Co 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.
1Co 3:9 For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Co 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1Co 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Co 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1Co 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
1Co 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
1Co 3:23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

You see Christ is our foundation and we are workers in Christ Jesus and we will be judged at The Judgement Seat of Christ for our works in Him.

Read what Paul states here in the book of Romans as he explains how we as believers who trust in Christ will be Judge.

Rom 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
Rom 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
Rom 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Rom 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at naught thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Only christians will appear at the Judgement Seat of Christ!
READ ON and you will see that only believers are present!

2Cor 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2Cor 5:9 Wherefore we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
2Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2Cor 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Believers will be caught up to go to the Judgement Seat of Christ before the Tribulation 7yr period and those who recieved not Christ will go through the Tribulation period and have to choose sides. People who made a decision for Christ and survived will go through the 1000yr reign of Christ as well as those who survived and possibly didn't make a decision for Christ and didn't worship the Beast will join them.

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Then at the end of the 1000yr period all who died during the 7yr period and those who reigned with Christ during the 1000yrs as well as those who are in hell and did not excepted Jesus Christ will be judged at The Great White Throne Judgement.

Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever
Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev 20:14-15 is Key because its PLAIN & CLEAR "WHOEVER WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WAS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE."
NO PURGATORY because Jesus Christ died once far all sins and we are purified and washed through His sacrifice at Calvery.

P.S. I believe this talking of the fallen angels, look up spirits.

1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Do a key word search on first estate and habitation in greek and you will see that it is not talking about heaven.

Jud 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate (form), but left their own habitation (Bodys), he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

When Jesus 'preached' to the spirits in prison , Jesus was ALIVE, not dead in hell..

When Jesus died, he was, in the Bible hell, the grave or memorial tomb, which is like sleep, knowing nothing until the resurrection. It is also called pit, sheol or hades.

Jesus was never in Gehenna, the lake of fire representing the second death. Which is a place God created for the destruction of Satan and his demons, and apparently some humans also; Matthew 25:41.

1Peter3:18,19.. indicates Jesus did this when he was a spirit, not a man, and seems to indicate this was after his resurrection.

Ecc.9:5. Rev. 20:14.

I never read about the apostles teaching purgatory, where is that???

There is no purgatory that is mainly a Catholic teaching. However, if you look at the parable of Lazarus and the rich man there was a place of both paradise and torment. They were separated by a gulf none could cross. The portion which was paradise is referred to as "Abraham's bosom" the other has many more names but Sheol and Hades are to that come to mind. Those in paradise were those who looked toward the Christ's coming. It is my understanding it is these people whom Jesus the Christ came to claim, to preach the "Good News" which for them was "The Messiah has come and here I am."
Hope this helps

He went to Hades, the Greek word for "abode of the dead." This place was alluded to by Jesus, when He told of Lazarus and the rich man. There was a place of comfort (Abraham's bosom) and a place of torment. (The place of torment is also mentioned in II Peter 2:9, "then the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials and to hold unrighteous people for punishment on the day of judgment,")

Purgatory (contrary to the asker) was not a common belief of the early church, but was developed from apocryphal works (2 Maccabees 12:41-45), which had not been canonized by the Roman church until the Council of Trent, in response to the Protestant Reformation.

Gettin into heaven is not by works. It's by faith and a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like when on the cross, one of the others repented to Jesus and said to him "not to forget me". Jesus replyed, saying something to the effect of "you'll be with me in paradice today". I'm not a bible scholar so no cheap shots on my quotes, i can find um if you want the book/chapter/verse.

As you know, Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Without his death, we would still have sacrifices like in the old testament. If there is such a thing as "purgatory" then what would the point of Jesus's death? "For by grace are you saved by faith, and that not of yourself, but is a gift of god, not by works".
I take it you do believe in purgatory, my question to you is, how can you put your trust in other people(sinners) to pray you into heaven? There is no doubt that the book? of Maccabees exsists, it's whether that if that book is God inspired or not. God has made promises that he will not let his written word be changed(i.e. last chapter in revelations). If God didn't want the KJV to be, then it would never had been orginally translated back in the day.

The ultimate question would be do you have a personal relationship with Jesus and have you accepted him as your savior and believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross for your(andeveryone's) sins b/c we all are sinners. The the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.

There is no glory in denouncing one brother over another, especially over a matter so trivial as this. Regardless of what sect you are and the differences between them, the truth lives on and is unchanged by your belief or mine and stands firm as the only "belief" that is believeable. Perhaps before seeking an answer to a question such as this, one should take a look at his own motivation for asking such a question. Is it truly a question hoping to enlighten and sharpen your fellow iron, or merely glorify one's self or religious system.
The only things Jesus told us to do were to Love God with all that we are, and Love our neighbors as ourselves. Those who know the truth and Love Jesus will be drawn to him and what he teaches, those who love themselves and respect more the praises of men then the praises of God would reject him. So before seeking to condemn, seek to enlighten.
So to your question, it matters little whether I believe in purgatory or not, should there be a purgatory, I will enter it regardless of my belief, just as those who don't believe in heaven or hell will end up encountering one anyway. In the meantime I'll just focus on doing what God said and fulfilling the mission he put me here to do rather than merely try to avoid the things he told me not too.

Hell. I do not believe in the "heroing of hell", that all those who had died before Christ were saved, but rather I believe only those who followed God were, that is accepted Christ as their Savior.

Ephesians 4
8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Jesus took all of humanities sin on the cross and made it His own. There is one punishment for sin, which is what Jesus was after the crucifixtion. That's hell. Jesus went to hell for three days and paid the punishment for our sins and defeated Satan, something no mere man will ever be capable of, arose the victor over death, and now sits at the right hand of God, making intercessions for us.
