I'd tell you to move. When the bean counters get done counting the beans, it probably costs more for the insurance companies to insure RI residents, than it does ones from Mass. Therefore, since you are all paying into the pot that the claims are paid out off, you have to pay a bigger share. I know it doesn't seem fair, but hey, nothing in life ever is.

WE make mass drivers look competent??? RI just got rated the WORST in the country!! I will say Mass is a close runner up but they do have us beat on insurance. you should check the RIDMV site. if you buy a car seven years old or more from a private party instead of a dealer you don't pay the car tax. true you take your risks buying someone's used car but it's worth it when it works to save the money.
PS: GPS systems now have the Rhode Island option where the directions are given by landmarks and past references. ( if you dont know where something used to be your screwed.)
I WILL agree that when it comes to taxes in RI it's cheaper to get mugged.

RI is the auto theft capital of the US for one thing. And RI drivers make MA drivers look competent by comparison. That's a feat!
vinlunny: That's what I meant. RI drivers are so bad that MA drivers look good by comparison. Being from MA originally, that's quite a feat that another state would be worse. I'm not slagging off RI drivers in particular -- there are plenty of terrible ones almost everywhere.
