Freedom of religion. READ THE BILL OF RIGHTS

America was only a christian country in its infancy, since then many things have changed. However, America has ALWAYS had freedom of religion (wasnt that the main point in coming to the new land??). America allows idol worshippers because they have a right to bow before their idols, and that is the way it should be.

#1 "America" is not a country. The Americas are the continent North and South America. The United States of America is a country in North America.
#2 The United States is not a Christian country. The United States has no official religion and its constitution specifically separates its government from religious organisations (the separation of church and state).
#3 How would a country even go about banning idol worship? We can't even effectively ban narcotics.

Because the US is not a Christian country, the US has separation of church and state. No religion can our official religion, so we can't be a Christian country any more than we could be a Jewish or Muslim or Buddhist country.

We allow all types here because America was founded on a vision of freedom, and one of the main freedoms provided was freedom of religion, freedom to worship whatever religion one chooses. To suggest that we are a Christian country is inherently un-American.

Because you are also a democracy.

I am Christian (not in america) and I would love if everybody only worshipped God, but if God gives people the choice then I will too. I respect other peoples religions, even if I don't agree with them and i don't think you, and certainly not the government, has the right to disallow certain practices (unless they endanger people).

If you were living in another country and were not allowed to worship God I suspect you would be upset by that.

America is not a christian country. It is a melting pot of cultures and religions. The first amendment is freedom of religion (plus a few others) so to not allow people who worship other gods would break that. America is about freedoms and people have the choice to worship something other than God

America is not a christian country. It has no official religion - it cannot as stated in the First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. (Ratified 12/15/1791).

You are welcome to exercise your right to be a practicing christian; however, the government cannot officially endorse it.

America is a republic based on democratic principles. We are not a theocracy. There are theocratic governments. Some of the muslim countries are. Afganishtan was and is now democratic. This country is grounded with this principle. "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal." Now what I would suggest would be to go home and take an online history course.

Because America has religious freedom for all. That is actually the goal of the First Amendment. If someone wants to worship idols we have no right to stop them. How would you like it if some other group came to power and outlawed Christanity?

America is a democracy not a theocracy. Therefore America is not a Christian country. An example of a theocracy would be the Taliban when they controlled Afghanistan. Do we really want that?
