I was going to ask the question about how do you make decent Breakfast Pancakes, but someone beat me to it elsewhere here.

So instead, can anyone translate the following for me?

"Call Aunt Jemima. she da bomb B."

I know Aunt Jemima is a Yank thing, 'cuz i seend it on da tv ober der.' .......But, the rest....?

And, anyway, I haven't come across (the easy way) 'Aunt Jemima boxes' and would rather try it for myself without the 'boxed help' type of help.

Thank you, in anticpation.
Sash.

1889 -Chris Rutt and Charles Underwood of the Pearl Milling Company developed Aunt Jemima, the first ready mix.
1890 -R.T. Davis purchased the struggling Aunt Jemima Manufacturing Company. He then brought the Aunt Jemima character to life when he hired Nancy Green as his spokeswoman. 1914 The image of Aunt Jemima was so popular that the company was renamed the Aunt Jemima Mills Company. 1926 The Quaker Oats Company purchased the Aunt Jemima Mills Company. Now that I have provided the "commerical" information for you , let me tell you the real truth. Aunt Jemima was supposed to be a large, smiling, black woman who lived in the white man's kitchen during the days of slavery and after. A controversy that has had many people up in arms for years because of the 'message' it sent to black women and men and families all over the world - it also sent a very strange message to whites - a sort of confirmation - that black "mammies" belonged in the kitchen, cooking for white people. Someone capitalized on this issue - the message ringing loud and clear, that from their industriousness, got rich from pancake mixes, syrup, corn bread and God only knows what else. To top it all off - they went and scourged the country side until they found the perfect "black mammy" to support their product all over the US - until she died in 1951. (a native of Chicago) I'm sure she made some money, but nothing compared to the wealth of the product line which still continues to make money. The comment - "Call Aunt Jemima, she da bomb" really is a joke in reference to calling the black woman who knows how to make pancakes - she is the best. Comment may not have been derrogatory, but as stated - over the years, there has been much controversy about this product/and selling tactics. Oh well....it's America

This is how I make mine. About 2 cups of flour (I don't measure anything), one cup milk, 2 eggs, 1 tsp baking powder, about 2 Tablespoons of oil. Beat well but if a little lumpy, that is okay.
Sometimes if I am making them for my kids I make them in shapes-like turtles, fish, etc.

One secret that is essential; whatever you do, DO NOT beat al lthe lumps out!!! It makes the pancakes tough due to chewy, over extended gluten. Also, once the bubbles stop rising and break, flip them immediately. Happy flap jackin'!!!
