For those theists who think Pascal's Wager is a sound logical argument, please read the following.

http://www.mukto-mona.com/Articles/avijit/pascal_wager.htm

Considering that there have been thousands of religions and 10s of thousands of god, the likely hood you have chosen the correct one is virtualy 0.

To billcompugeek;

You didn't actually read that article did you? Your "concern" was addressed within. And if you think that the christian religion is the only one whith divinely inspired texts you are very mistaken.

Flawed logic is flawed logic, so for once (heaven forfend), I am on your side.

Pascal simply says, "If you believe in God" That covers numerous religions with numerous visions of Heaven and Hell. Indeed, not all even have a Heaven or Hell. If you took every known religion and placed the words "the God of " after "in", then ran the enitre matrix, atheists would actually come out ahead (because of religions with no Hell, or religions which wouldn't send atheists there if they had one).

So, this time, touche.

I think the biggest problem with pascal's wager is that even if the choice were only between Christianity and non-belief God would still know who was choosing just to be on the safe side and who really believed. So, even if a person became Christian just in case and God turned out to be real, that person would still go to hell because they didn't actually believe.

I'm an atheist. I don't know whats stupider, you or the people who say paschal's wager is about belief.

It's not about belief, its about investigating the possiblity of God.

I did that, and find there to be no God.

Paschal was a great mind, and this matrix is about investigation of believe.

People mistake what he wrote, they do so wrongly. You posting this show your ignorance.

Remove your question or people will read this and know you a fool

Thanks for answering my question. Now I will answer yours. There is only one correct answer and that is to believe. The word of God is the Truth. Right now if you empty out the cash from your wallets and the coins from your pockets you will find inscribed on each item words to this effect "IN GOD WE TRUST". If God offends you so much I want you to throw away all of your money. That's what I thought. The word of God is the word of God. I will spread the word of God and the Word will be heard. So heathens beware!!!! God loves you and I do to. This is the Caveman signing off and swinging his club in the name of Jesus. Peeeeaaaaccceee!!!!! OH Yeah!!!!

Those "thousands of other Gods" that people have worshipped over time never had a voice like Jehovah God or Jesus Christ (the one and the same God). These multiple Gods are strangely silent and do not write scripture or fulfill scripture.

How sad are you to build your entire life around the ABSENCE of something rather than the presence of something else?

If you don't beleive God exists, why the constant need to talk about a non-entity?

I think you know better, and you're just fighting.

I fought for a while myself. You'll come home.

A fair question and one I would like to discuss with you at length. I invite you to email me, we appear to be like minded in some respects and I would rather have intellectual discussions with you as opposed to random postings.
