Forgiveness means life change. God forgives when a person truly means to change their ways. If it's just a case of "covering your rear" by asking forgiveness and then repeating the same mistake, it's not truly repentance.
So, it all goes back to the heart and attitude.

If you're a true christian, you'll know when you say or do something thats not right, because the Holy Spirit convicts us when we do. All we need to do is ask God to forgive us of whatever wrong we committed. He's a loving & forgiving God. But He don't expect us to keep on doing the same thing. If you do, He will chastise you because He loves you & is helping you to go in the right direction.

For one of the posters, the prayer you quoted was given in answer to the question of how we should pray. It was not given to be a repetative prayer, because repetative prayer is wrong according to our bibles.
Simply use this prayer as a guideline of how you should pray. Meaning always acknowledge GOD and where he is and who he is in your prayers. And so on with the rest of that prayer.
Now, does GOD hear you if you do not bow your knees and head and close your eyes. Yes, he hears your heart, and if you are praying from your heart, then it is heard and done.

If a Christian truely asks forgiveness for their sins, then yes the prayer is answered. That does not however give us a right to act any way we want to act. There can be consequences for sins.

Praying for forgiveness is a pretty safe bet. No need to follow strict procedures in praying except for contemplating your intentions.

Christ gave the apostles and their successors the power to forgive sins in His absence (John 20:22-23) This is the sacrament of reconciliation (or confession). That is why St Paul says in 2 Cor 5:18-20, "all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation. . . . We are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us".

When we pray we talk to God. If
AND I SAY
if you commit the sin of cursing, to ask God for forgiveness is talking to God.
WHETHER
you mean it or not, is a different matter.

PRAYING is just talking to THE GOD.
No formal prayers required AT ALL!
If you blunder-- apologize! Why not!
Formal Prayer is for followers of a Church, not GOD.
