I think many aspects of donating/receiving sperm could be considered sinful. A man is sexually pleasing himself without the presense of a wife and will abandon countless children that he will never meet and probably never even know exist; A women is impregnating herself with a stranger's sperm, often times out of wedlock and perhaps even in order to have a child with a gay partner; Both a man and a woman are opting to procreate unnaturally; The child will be a product of science rather than of love.

I'm not too religious, I'm just looking for support/rebuttals to this claim. Please and thank you.

DAMN! Look at some of my answers before you assume I'm a member of the Rapture Right...I was curious, sheesh!

Now I'm going to be a jerk. There are plenty on the Rapture Right that say to adopt instead of abort, yet they opt instead to receive frozen sperm instead of a living child...

You left out pornography. I hear that's readily available if the donor needs an "incentive" so to speak.

"Both a man and a woman are opting to procreate unnaturally; The child will be a product of science rather than of love."

But some people cannot physically have children but want them anyway, even some heterosexual couples. That's not their fault. If they want to get a sperm donor/egg donor, that's up to them. Sperm/egg banks exist so people like these can concieve children.

A lot of foster kids are not a product of love, either, since they were given up by their parents...and then they get adopted by a couple who wants to adopt. How is that a problem?

How is he abandoning those children? The sperm is on "ice" so to speak and they aren't children... These types of things are used in order that a couple who can't have children can experience it. And how is it Not Love? I'm not sure how you got this information, but most people who go to doctors who do artificial insemination do so out of love... because they want children of their own (even those that child is not completely theirs)...

And honestly, I don't think about what other people do sexually... if a guy goes to a sperm bank, more power to him. But if it came down to me wanting a child and not being able to have one with my own husband, I would consider it... and I sure wouldn't worry about HOW it got there.

so what if they are sinful according to religion. They are a legitimate bussiness that helps many american families each year with accurate fees etc etc. The only problem that I have would be that many offsprings eventually get married without knowing that they are related and the sperm banks are not very responsible with their client choosings.

Also the amount of unplanned and underage pregnancies in this country is crazy. maybe u should worry about that.

WTF? Are you completely out of your mind? Sperm banks harbor sperm. End of story. If the donor doesn't donate his sperm is he committing a sin? Onan did in the Old Testament, he spilled his seed on the ground. In your convoluted way of thinking, because he doesn't waste his seed the donor should be considered righteous. Many loving couples consisting of a man and a woman have benefited from the use of sperm banks. It is sometimes the only way that they can share in God's gift of parenthood. Stop fishing about for imagined sin, there's plenty of the real thing going around for you to ferret out.

Any child that will be reared w/ love shouldn't have their mother be judged. Especially if they simply want to be single mothers.

Essentially, the child is being created by love....By the love of the mother for wanting a child. Just b/c the child is created by the love of one person, instead of two, doesn't mean it's illigitimate.

Futhermore, if men are abandoning children by ejaculating, than woman must be sinning by having their periods every month....Not by choice. KThanks?

Its wrong, think one guy gives sperm at the rate of one time per day, how may women could he impregnate, and the children live with a lie about there real father, like that's the way the aliens created us

Are you serious? In that case men who donate sperm should be sued for reckless abandonment and have to pay child support to the 500 million kids that result from one ejaculation.

I doubt they'd. Why would they, although? do not sperm banks help women individuals who pick to have somewhat one? no matter if it helps some different person indirectly, i do not see some thing sinful about them.

Well at least they're being planned and have a future ahead of them rather than two teens from the ghetto getting pregnant...again and again!

I believe in adoption.

I see nothing wrong with two men or women raising a child. Thou shall not judge.

Is it a sin to provide a child to perfectly capable parents if they are unable to have children of their own?

Who is to say that these parents will not raise their children to be inspirations to other people and lead good and decent lives.

I see no sin in it at all.
