Why not? It's certainly unusual - as long as it won't draw undue ridicule at school (e.g. doesn't mean "spanner" in hebrew or something mad) then you should go for it - perhaps consider a more usual middle name if they want an option a bit later in life ;)

Actually, for all the weird names that have been thrown around, this has to be the nicest... And I like the history behind it...
Good choice :)

Adhara (sometimes spelled Adara). The name is from the Arabic word عذارى ‘aðāra’, "virgins".

Oh my! You copycat, that's what I am going to do. It's the second brightest star after the Dog Star, and it also means "maidens" in Arabic.

Copycat! :D

I think it is a very pretty name. I like names that are not common....even though only one of my kids has a uncommon name.(my exhubby fault)
Her name is Jessalynn. I also helped name my neice whose name is Nevaeh...(heaven spelled backwards).

Ehhh, I dunno...it's not my favorite name - but then again it's not terrible. I like names that you can shorten - you can't really shorten Adhara, you'd end up calling her "ad" or "hara" and those nicknames sound aweful.
