is it a shame issue? do they know how to put a real picture? or is it an identity / privacy issue

because not everybody can afford scanners or webcams, moneybags....it's better that a stupid gray smiley square!!

I choose not to put up a real picture for the privacy.

It's an identity/privacy issue. People can stalk. Also, here on YA there are impersonators who will steal your photo and say things you wouldn't dream of, and ruin your reputation.

I use one for privacy only; however, I have a 360 page with photo albums. Avatars are fun. I am more apt to feel anonymous and talk using one than not.

Because they are cool cartoony versions of oneself.
Easy to create... well mine is not working right now!!
I would have one instead of that weird grey smiley thing, but for some reason the link used to create/modify Avatars is acting up.
Not working... Hey Yahoo people! If you can read this, can you fix the Avatar link thing? I like my Avatar.
... Avatar was also a professional wrestler in Japan I think.

I am so wanted had sooooooo much email coming when I had my picture up ...huh...I just had to take it down man..whew.....the people have nothing to do but bother me...and dont put up your best picture people or you wont get any sleep at all! Steve-are all people in prison?lol-smack me.
