Even though i am a girl, i get on better with my dad than with my mother. It has always been this way ever since i was small. Mainly because it was my father who looked aftered me while my mother did her degree at university. But even now when i am older, i get on much better with my dad, I have more in common with him and we have great fun together. He sometimes, talks me clothes shopping, gives out great advice and is always there for me . Me and my mother are ok, she is always nice to me and we talk, now and then. But i find her alittle immature and naggy. We have about 2 things in common, yet i find it easy to talk to her and stuff, and she does help me alot now and then. But normally i see and hear that girls are suppose to be closer with there mothers than with their fathers. But for me it is the other way round. Is That strange?

Not at all! Father-daughter relationships are just as beautiful and meaningful as mother-daughter ones. Just because you're closer to your father doesn't mean it's strange. I mean, some guys out there are closer to their moms than they are to their dads. It's perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with it. Be glad you have a wonderful relationship with your father, because there are some children who never even get to meet their dads =)

No, it is normal that all the children not only girls like the mom more than the dad, because the dad is mosltly the one who is out for work, returning tired and sleeps, but moms usually are at home, spending most of the time with they'r mom, so a strong connection happens between them, even when a child cries he moslty calls Mommy!
But the way you lived, your mom was not there for you, she is as a friend who came to stay with you after a while, your dad is the one you were dealing with and is the one you were hanging up with, so the connection between you is much stronger, your dad spent more time with you, he understands what you want to say, you even understand him more, know his character 100% and everything, it is normal that you have this feeling
But as days pass, you will get used to your mother, and you will start feeling the same feeling for her, but it will be never be equal to the feeling you have for dad

Your father sounds like the father most people wish they had. Why would it be strange that your father loves you very much, and shows he cares. It is normal to want to be with a parent that shows you a great deal of attention and love. Not saying your mother doesn't love you the same. Just that your father might be able to show it more.

My daughter is 12, and she gets along better with me then her mother, even though we are now divorced, and she is with me one month and then with her mother one month, she tells me and has told her friends that she likes being at my house and with her daddy then she dose with her mother. My daughter has indicated that she wants to come and live with me full time, but I do believe that she will and dose need her mother too. My daughter and I are not just Father and Daughter, but we do lots of things together and we can talk about anything.

It's not strange, it just sounds like you have a great dad. The only problem I can see is that you may have a hard time finding a guy who can measure up to your dad. Most people are attracted to ppl who remind them of their opposite sex parent. Good luck.

do not difficulty too a lot. dad and mom in ordinary words have as a lot means in case you provide them and human beings do not decide you in protecting with how dad and mom take care of you. They comprehend dad and mom are dad and mom, frequently overprotective, smothering, bossy... you get the idea. in the journey that they see this variety of figure they decide THEM, not YOU! (Took me a lengthy time period to figure this out.) it really is not as once you've some personality flaw that made them act this kind. dad and mom frequently impression their youngster's habit, not any incorrect way round.

Same here, Me and my dad get along realy well. Me and mom do too but i go to my dad for advice and stuff. It's not weird to like someone more than someone else. It's normal. You just have to remeber that both your parent love you alot. Even though you get along more with your dad, your mom loves you too and would probally die for you.

not at all. as parents we tend to be tougher on same gender children because we know from our life experience the things that life may throw at you.
the same is true in my own family. my husband tends to be less rigid when disciplining our daughter caompared to our sons.
she is "daddy's little girl" she tends to cry for & respond more to him. likewise my husband says I'm turning our sons into "momma's boys"
it was only until i had a daughter that i understood how true to life the mother/daughter relationship in the Ann of Green Gables series is.

It's pretty normal but you will probably develop a closer relationship with your mom after you have children of your own. That's the way it was for my daughter and me.
