i once lost my childs passport and i had to call the police to say it was lost they told me that if any passports are found they automaticaly get sent off to the passport office. so i called the passport office to report them stolen and they told me that if any lost passports came to them they automatically get destroyed due to fraud. so they sent me a lost form to fill out and also a renewal form to send off for the passport again. so in my case no i could not get the number of the passport. i just had to pay 35.00 english pounds to get another.

My son lost his daughters. Once it's lost you have to reapply for another. Both parents must sign a paper in front of the postmaster, allowing the child to have a passport.

I don't think it would be very sensible to post anyone's passport number on a web site ... together with name and other identifying details, do you? Very much doubt if you can find anything on the net like that ...

You might also try www.state.gov (the website for the US State Dept) for their toll-free number. You may be able to have it replaced without applying all over again.
