Friend gave me this gun. Marlin 1894CB SN#03030282
Lever Action 44 Mag 44 Special Octogon Barrel. In original box.
The man that gave it to me stated he traded it in 1969 for some a/c work. Wondering if its newer than 1969 and its possible value.
Can't find it in the Gun Blue Book

Your gun is mostly likely a lot newer than 1969. In recent years with all the interest in cowboy action shooting, Marlin has produced several calibers of rifles and carbines geared specifically for cowboy action shooting. The octagon barrel is only available on the rifle model. I would guess it was produced in the last 10 years. If your blue book is old it probably wont be in there because the gun is not that old. They are very nice guns, you are lucky to have one. My best guess is that it is worth about 600 to 700 bucks used, depending on condition.

the marlin 1894 44mag only, supposedly a recreation of the model 1894 of the last century is actually built on the 336 action introduced in 1971 and still being made in 1981..the date of my gun digest book.
