Of course, everyone would still be able to practice the faith they choose, but it is important that we end this bickering that leads to violence and killing in the name of religion.

What you just wrote is exactly how freedom OF religion and freedom of assembly are supposed to work. Freedom of religion was established primarily because the country was founded by Christians and a few Jews, so it was created to allow Jews to live peacebly in the country according to the freedom of assembly. This meant that Jews were allowed to worship in their customary manner within their designated places of worship and same went for Christians. However this also meant that once outside those walls any religious matters were pushed aside and the governing law was to be the authority.

So technically our country has one faith. It is in the Contitution and its interpretation according to the three branches of government, mainly the Supreme Court. This is why evolution is taught in schools and not the Bible today. This is also how crime and punishment are established. Basically the representing people that make up the government bible are the authority which uphold the doctrine of the Constitution and the Ammendments, very similar to a church.

This is why a separation of Church and State exists, otherwise the Constitution would be under the religious text to which we ascribe, if Chrisitianity or Judaism were are state religion then the law of the Torah would probably be our Judicial standard. If it were Islam, the teachings of the quran would be our judicial standard. This is what makes America great, that we attempt to create a judicial standard and a formal doctrine based on freedoms and rights that are weighed by common sense, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Many people complain that the governments allowance of abortion, sexual immorality, and some other things is a flaw of our government. Actually it is one of our greatest assets because allowing something but not condemning it allows people to make choices for their own and puts the power of such decisions in state and local governments and reigning social standards. As an example, homosexuality and adultey are condemned by all Abrahamic religions as many other sins are, but by not strictly enforcing any punishments adhering to such practices the government maintains a high persona of itself by never having to deal with such issues in the court system. The same reason they allowed abortion, so the government would not have to settle judicial standards involving the actively or pasively intentional deaths of unborn children.

God Bless America! Happy 230th Birthday USA!

My husband thinks that all religions will merge in a few hundred years. It's not the same as what you're asking and don't think either will happen. To begin with, there are still some faiths in which there is more than one god or goddess. Also, I fail to see how outlawing different faiths will end the violence or bickering. If only we could get all the religious leaders of the world to tell the followers of their faith that people must be respectful and tolerant of other people and their faiths (unless it is something crazy like ritual sacrifices). After all, they seem to have a lot in common. Were there any religions that predated Judaism, Christianity and even Hinduism?

No. Alot of people believe in mulitple gods, others in ancestors, others in spirits, others in only nature. You can't legislate religion. The real bickering and violence comes from people trying to force their religion on others, so forcing everyone to believe in one god is the same as forcing religion and you will have protests and violence until the law is repealed.

concepts-blowing question. certain it serves (or hinders) me. Now from a Hindu attitude we are God (certain even atheists), for this reason we we do to help ourselves and all existence does enables and serves God. in simple terms imagine of it as there is not any unmarried cellular that is you, yet truly the composite of all those cells. What each and each and every cellular does to be a "good" cellular enables the full, interior of an same way by using you being fulfilled you serve in pleasing the full (aka God). _()_

Jesus Christ says that the New Jerusalem is the end church. So we are headed toward unity anyway and belief in one God according to the Lord Jesus Christ who is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

The bible tells us in the future, all will speak one language and worship one God. No outlawing or anything like that on our part, just prophecy full-filled.

Isn't this what Revelations says will happen? I guess if you believe in the prophetic powers of the Bible, this must be possible.

so are you trying to say that there would be peace in the world if everyone bowed down to the faith you follow? sure, that would work.

NO, simply because many worship a god instead of THE GOD!
