Is it the same as a purring noise cos I've got three cats and they've never rattled?! Also never had the wire chewing problem I'm afraid, ask a vet for advice, could be boredom maybe? A cat does need a lot of love and affection and they love to play too. If you don't already do that, try it out, it's hilarious and may take it's mind off the wires!

How old is the kitten. The rattling sound is probably it purring. The wires....well once it gets through it will only do it once. Just kidding! You can try spraying it with water when it gets close to them. That should let it know to stay away. Also, give it some toys to play with like catnip mice, strings, feathers...stuff to keep it entertained so it will leave other stuff in the house alone.

Your cat is very happy; the rattling noise is called purring, which cats do when they are happy, usually. Its an emotion thing- they also do it when in great pain, which is why so many morons think that giving birth doesnt hurt them because they purr.....they are in agony, just like us!
The chewing wires thing; get a compound from your chemists to stop nailbiting, and rub it on the wires; it tastes vile!!!

He's making the noise because he is contented. It's called purring. With regard to chewing wires, wrap some double sided sticky tape around the wires. He won't like the taste or feel of the adhesive. Add a little lemon peel or pungent vegetable (onion) in a bowl near the wires. It should make him wary of that area.
Good luck.

the rattling is actually purring and yes it means he's happy, as for the wires, like kids, they need telling off, don't smack their nose cos this upsets them too much, pick them up by the loose skin at the back of the neck and tap him on his hind leg. Eventually he'll get the message that he's not allowed to do this!

I think that sound is purring - a happy cat sound!
You can wrap wires in tin foil because cat hate the sound and feel of it. When he quits chewing, remove the foil. Or you can go the heavy-duty route and get those wire covers that you see in offices (they cover the wire and lie flat along the floor).

He's purring, and yes that's a good thing. It's a sound they make to 1. comfort themselves, 2. express contentment. As for the wires, you can wrap them in something yucky, like velcro, or put bitter apple on the wires, or tabasco sauce.

the rattling sound is called purring, pretty much all cats do it to show contentment. (actually, i think it's their way of saying "i love you")
chewing wires? hmm, that's a tough one. if you catch him in the act and say "NO!" loudly, then perhaps pop him on the nose with your hand, he will learn.
that's what i would do
