There is a theory that we are Gods. To some we are made in his image, therefore we are Gods. Believing that someone (God) is watching over us helps us to show more control, compassion, mercy, morality and believing in a hereafter certainly conditions our behavior. Our sense of destiny, that our lives are preordained is an attempt to accept God without giving him credit, since it supposes that our existence is planned by someone and negates our free will to effect change. For all of these reasons believing in his existence is valuable even if we were to find out later in life that there is no God. Mankind is strengthened by our faith in God and in the power of someone superior to man. If we deny his existence then our entire lives would be meaningless. It means that we are only here like the animals to live and then die. It would not matter how we lived, who we hurt or whether or not we were productive. I know that for many this is the pattern to which they have resigned, but belief in God gives one the purpose in our being and therefore enriches us.

Huh, live my life like there is a God and die and find out that he doesnt exist. To live like there is a God, is good. It helps us be kind to each other. And I dont have a problem with being kind, and living a wholesome life.

I live my life as I believe in God! However if I am wrong, ( I don't believe I am wrong) then I will have lived a good and honest life, and have lost nothing.
However, if one does not believe in God and live their life accordingly then will they be surprised when they die and spend eternity in hell.

i was going to ask a question like this one, i mean, if Christians are wrong then what will happen after death? The same thing, but if non-Christians are wrong, it will be a difficult eternity. But even when you put it as simply as that to non-Christians, they still get all defensive about Christians meddling in their lives...

I choose to believe and find out in the end that there isn't although I firmly believe and know in my heart that there is.

The first...a lot of His laws and statutes were mimicked in our laws in our society and everyone would be better off having followed them whether he exist or not....but I KNOW HE LIVES!
