Distract yourself as much as possible from thinking about him. Cut off all contact. Tell mutual friends that his name & anything related to him is off limits. It'll be hard at first, but it'll work.

Believe me, it is hard to forget.

It takes minutes to have crush on somebody, and days to love someone and A LIFETIME to forget someone.

Get yourself busy with someother activity, find a lovely person to hold onto (both physically and emotionally). From my experience, i found that the more you try to forget someone, the more you will think about him/her.

First, recognise that it's probably more like infatuation or obsession; nothing makes us want something more than being told we can't/shouldn't have it.

Second. don't feed it; don't daydream, mooch around, listen to soppy songs etc.

Third, get busy! you might not be in the mood to look at other men yet, but at least get out and do things, read, learn, have other experiences - there's a whole fascinating world out there...

if you love them, you won't forget. but you can move on with your life--date other people, go out and have fun....you might even find someone you love more. my advice would be to distance yourself and try not to talk to/see the person at all.

first thing is time...and if you are really in love with them you probably wont ever get over thinking about them every know and then....second is you have to make them unaccessible and have self control..I know when I was in love with this girl...what I did was I hid all the pictures that I had of her on my computer and I deleted her number off my phone...know even though I knew her number by heart...when I got board I wouldnt call her....and you just have to totally delete them from your life until you have other things to think about

if you truly love this person, it will be difficult to forget them...the reason you should not be in love with them is unclear here, as you have provided no reason...however, it is okay not to forget them...but, to not love after loving is almost impossible unless they have done something to you.
try hanging out with people who are not in anyway connected to them...try finding all the bad qualities you can about this person and playing on them...everyone has something about them that is intolerable...try imagining what you would do to your daughter if she were in love with someone you would not want her loving

completely detach urself from that person. no calling or seeing or talking to them. eventually it or they will fade away and after a while u wont think of them either. keep urself occupied in any way shape or form. were u w this person? if so, it's harder to do. but it just takes time, u no? it'll all fade, but if u continue to hav ne contact w this person, it wont fade, only get worse.

Love someone else. Pick a celebrity that you know you will never get and if you do get lucky you score.
