Curtis, you're so right about it being hard to find good churches teaching the right teaching of the Bible. Are you familiar with Amos 8:11:
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:"
Well now this is happening. You don't need a church building.
On the first part of your question, No , you can't save yourself by reading and teaching yourself the the Bible. Living a Christian life helps, but it can't be a matter of works. Please write me back that I can explain further. God Bless You Joe

You can teach yourself the best you can without the guidance of a minister or teacher, but you will never learn the deeper meanings of things. Only by Jesus can you be saved, never on your own. Look around at churches, visit different ones, and find one that you're comfortable with. That's the best way to learn and know that only through Jesus can you be saved. I'm in a family of ministers and, although they help me out with some questions, I don't fail to know that a church is the best guidance I can get. ♥ Those who say that churches are for taking your money and raping your children are those who do not go to church and do not care where their souls are headed. If you truly are wanting to serve God and live the right way, go to church. It costs nothing to learn...if you don't want to, or cannot, tithe to the church with money, then do it with working somewhere in the church. Give of your time, give of yourself. You're on the right path now. We need a church, because it's a place full of believers who will help us stay on the right path, help us learn the Bible, and it's a joyous thing to go there. Find a good church, don't give up, you won't regret it!

You can accept Christ as your savior in your own home. But Jesus taught that Christians should fellowship and come together to fellowship. Congratulations and welcome to the family!!!!
Right Reasons For Going To Church.
A. To be built up and encouraged spiritually like you will not be anywhere else, no matter how imperfect the church or its members may be, Hebrews 10:23-25, 1 Corinthians 14:26.
B. To offer collective worship like God wants, Romans 15:6, Ephesians 5:19. Something you can't do on your own.
C. To be rebuked like you won't do for yourself, 2 Timothy 4:1-4.
D. To learn things you won't see on your own, Acts 8:30-31.
E. To encourage and build up others because this is your responsibility as a Christian, James 5:16, Galatians 6:2, Romans 12:4-8.
F. To support the local church in its effort to reach the world with the gospel, Ephesians 4:16, John 17:20-23.

You cannot save yourself. You need to confess your sins to Jesus and ask forgiveness to be saved. You need to be under conviction when you do this--meaning you need to feel in your heart He is calling you to Himself. Then you can teach yourself at home and live a Christian life without a church, but the Bible does say not to neglect assembling yourself with other believers (doesn't have to be church, just fellowship) so you can encourage one another. If you are a new Christian, though, it is best to have a mentor or someone to guide you.

You cannot save yourself (just a joke-taking your ? literally). You do not need a "church" as you are thinking. The Bible states that "whereever two are gathered in my name, there I am also." Not that he is not there with just you (I am just quoting one passage). However if you accept Jesus as your Savior and ask for His forgiveness, then you just earned your spot in Heaven! That doesnt mean things will be easy but they will be easier to deal with. The point of having a "church" is to surround yourself with believers. So, while I recommend you go to a church you can also find SOMEONE to discuss scripture and your beliefs. That strengthens your faith and allows you to understand the Bible which on your own may be at times hard to understand.

As long as you have Jesus in your heart, you're saved. Though I also believe church is an important part of religion. Fellowship with other Christians is a great way to learn more about God. Finding a good church is hard, but it's worth it. You can find the most amazing role models and it helps keep you on track with your belief. Good luck and God bless!

Dude, it sounds like you may be saved. Like many of the people above me said, you only need Jesus and his saving grace payed for through the cross.
But if you read the bible, I think you will realize that it commands that we be a part of a church. It is crucial. And there are good churches out there. Don't give up!

Dude, I have been around the world many times. I have had more awesome jobs than you can shake a stick at. I am married to a wonderful wife and have two beautiful well behaved babies. I have time, money, health, good family, a red convertible, and a big big house. But you know, all that is so incomprehensibly worthless in comparison to Jesus Christ. Don't go to a church. No need to talk to a priest. Tell the Mormons to stop ringing your doorbell. Dude, just pray like you are talking to a friend. It helped me. And I am 100% convinced He can help you, too. Believe, my friend. Believe. The Lord is with you; are with Him? - The Sandy Beach Bum

Of course, none of us will know until it's too late to change our minds, but I can't believe that any god would punish people for not going to church. If you live a good life, treat people fairly, help when you can, etc., I really think that has to be enough.
I simply can't believe in a god that is so selfish that you have to show up at a certain place at a certain time on a weekly basis in order to go to heaven or receive some reward in the next life (if there is one).

The Church will tell you no - there is no way that you can be saved unless you attend the Church. They set it up this way, so that they could be a middle man between you and God. But this is all a lie.
Jesus said "Cut any piece of wood and you will find me, turn over any stone and I will be there." God is all around you. You do not have to attend Church to be saved.
You only have to attend church in order to be robbed of your savings and have your children raped by priests.
