The primary issue here is that Kia is already is a big company, because they are part of Hyundai. In Korea, Hyundai is big business on many levels and in many industries. I can only see them growing their market share in the US, so look for them to expand, especially as GM and Ford tend to lose share. However, I would not look for Kia/Hyundai to challenege Toyota or Honda, but they could slot in as the #3 Asian maker in this country.
Freebie prediction: look for a Hyundai/Kia plant in the US within the next 5 years.

Yes I think it will.
KIA has just come to Canada and the USA not to long ago and soon it will be on the market as one of the best cars going. I noticed that it is getting to be a popular car. I have just purchased 2 of the Rio models and I am enjoying driving these cars. It has get up and go. I have tried other cars and have found that the KIA car is better made and the sales people and really nice. It is a family atmosphere kind of company. Give it a chance.

10 years from now, if properly managed, Kia may be bigger than General Motors. Does anyone remember what a joke Hyundai used to be? They are doing well now. Kia will continue to grow as long as they offer a good product at a reasonable price.

We sell a lot of sportages and sedonas at our dealership. Over 200 this year. Kia is big. All the new models are getting good reviews. Hyundais cost a little less, but kias are better value.
I have noticed some quality issues.

Hyundai owns Kia and is already #7 or #6 largest carmaker worldwide and wants to be #5. A US plant in the next year? There is a plant in Alabama making Sonatas and SantaFes already. Their target is to sell half a million cars in the U.S. in 2006. They're not Toyota-sized or Honda-sized, certainly not GM-sized, but they're not small either.

they might draw a larger share of the auto market, but the big problem is that there are too many auto companies in north America competing for too few buyers, and add the current cost of fuel in to the mix, KIA has what I would call an up hill climb, not impossible, but still not easy.

The way you ask the question suggests that you're not really interested in the correct answer but rather try to calm down the inner voice in you.
Hey, take it easy and RELAX! There are people who care about you, OK?
Have a nice day!

Look how much it's grown already, even though they put out an overall sh*tty product. It didn't seem to work out the same for Daewoo, though...
