son = hijo

daughter = hija

kids = niños

Funny thing with that is that it's the same word. "Hijo" means son and "hijos" means kids and children. Now if you want to say something like "the kids" it's los ninos. It can be confusing sometimes. Good Luck.

Son, is hijo meaning your offspring.
Chamacos, is kids, also means your offspring or kids in general, not yours.
