In my opinion, if he did cheat on u, he doesn't love u as much as he says he does. U don't cheat on people u love, because cheating shows an utter disregard for ur lover's feelings. That being said, is why, with a few exceptions, once a cheater always a cheater.

Have a sit down converstaion with him talk things out you can give it another try if you think its worth it. But know that you still might get your heart broken. Once they put their hand in the cookie jar they are likely to do it again.
