take him to the vet, mine did the same thing and he turned out that he had a urinary tract infection. The vet will probably give you medication for him and hopefully after it's all cleared he'll go back to the litter box like he's supposed to. mine did. On the other hand if it's not an infection he may be showing signs of behavioral problems, that may happen if you have more than one cat using one litter box

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

Take the cat to a vet. the do that when they are ill, usually a uti. clean the carpet with an enzyme cleaner from the pet supply store. Natures Miracle is the best but you have to follow the directions.

Could have a urinary track infection or crystals in his bladder...males are more prone to this problem than females. Vet visit is necessary and may have to be put on a special diet so it doesn't keep happening. If he isn't neutered he could be marking his territory...one way to fix that is to get him neutered. Neutering solves other problems such as howling and unwanted kitties and prevents testicular cancer in the future. Take kitty to the vet and he'll be fine.

Make a nice white wine sauce. Strip the cat of it's fur and boil it for two hours to get rid of unwanted fat. Slice into thin slices and garnish with garlic and onions. Make fettucinni noodles, after done, mix the white wine sauce with the sliced cat. Serve with sliced plums. Ouila. Problem solved.

He might have a urinary tract infection, so I would take him to the vet, but also make sure you have enough litter boxes around the house. One for each floor and/or one for each cat. Be sure they are clean so your cat will want to go in them.

He is just marking his territory. I don't know if there is a whole lot you can do about it. He will eventually be content and stop. My cats did this in the garage. He stopped after a little while though.

Neuter him if you haven't already.
Keep his litterbox perfectly clean. If there are multiple cats in the house, get several boxes and don't put them side by side.
he could be protesting a big change in the household: new pet, new baby, etc

He may be marking, if you live in a rental he may be trying to cover the previous animals scent. Try Natures Miracle, PetsMart carries it. ood luck, I had to get rid of my Lizzie and it is heartbreaking. She is in a new home that has never had animals and now she is going only in her litter box!
