Although I know how bad it is, I smoke. I don't smoke in my car or house because I know how disgusting it is (I also use ash trays, so I don't throw them onto the street either) If we go on long trips we have an empty soda bottle that we ash into and throw the butts into, then we get to a gas station we just throw the bottle away. Many smokers are inconsiderate that way and I have no idea why. They are the same people who probably through fast food bags and other litter out of their car windows.

Smoking is most certainly not a lifestyle choice! Being around smokers and areas where smoking is legal and common can greatly increase a person's risk of lung and other cancers, as well as other diseases. People seem to think that because smoking is legal it hurts no one, but you can't be so ignorant to not realize the dangers mere cigarettes hold. It should be a form of child abuse if a parent smokes near the child or in the home, serious damage can be done. A personal addiction should not be forced upon others, whether it be by starting fires or causing cancer.

i'm an ex smoker and that i shamefully admit I sometimes did this. the reason being that cigarette butts make the vehicle smell like an ashtray. I justified it through holding that a butt is made from paper and cotton, so will biodegrade in time (i understand, it really is not a superb excuse). I stay in eire the position it rains each and every of the time so no hearth negative aspects.

Because smokers are filthy people. Not to mention the fact they think the ground is their own personal ash tray. They casually
drop their arm to the side of their car, and let the burning cigarrette drop to the ground. If there were any justice, I wish
someone would walk up to their car, pick up the dropped cigarrette
and put it out on the perpetrator's face. People who throw cigarette butts
out of the car window are self-centered, self-loathing pieces of
dog dung.

Not only is it littering...it is also a serious fire hazard. When I was little, walking home from school I would get bored. Sometimes I would count the butts on the ground on the way. There were more butts than any other type of litter.
Too bad there is not a way we can enforce this better. In California, the fine for littering is higher than the fine for throwing a lit object. I say they should get BOTH fines.

most new cars on the market don't come with ash trays
plus leaving butts in a car makes it stink
so deal with it
I don't smoke in a car anyways but if you do smoke in a car and the windows are down and throw the butt out afterwards you can still air the car out so it doesn't smell
also people need to get a life when they try to put down people who smoke. its a lifestyle choice and you have no say over what people do. just cause your a douche doesn;t mean people should put you down and shi!t right? right so again deal with it.

When I did smoke in my car, my ash tray was used for holding change. I didn't want to get ashes in my change, that would suck. Also, it appears to attract a lot of attention, which can be good or bad.

the only reason i do is because my car is brand new and it didn't come with an ashtray. i try to have an empty bottle or something, but sometimes you don't and have to be rude.
a lot of people do it because they don't want their cars to smell; as you put the butts in the ashtray and lock your car, the heat makes the smell reallly bad.
and no, i'm not going to quit just because some idiot tells me to or because i'm going to die. we're all going to die.
do as you want.

Yes!!!!! I mean, I really want to hear why you do that- litter, endanger areas that are dry already and at high alert for fires, and disregard common decency.
And, don't start with, "People throw lots of stuff out of cars." Change starts at home and I really want to hear from someone what kind of logic goes through your mind.
You don't like the stink??????? Are you kidding me????? Well, we don't like the stink either. Absolutely live your life your way but keep it out of our lives!
Stop throwing them out the window, we notice.

lol^^actually it is butts
People do that for the sake of convenience, just as people often toss empty fast food containers out the window.
Oh, and not all smokers do that. I personally totally oppose littering, and only throw mine in trash cans =) But thanks for pointing out this issue, it irks me as well<3
