And don't tell me they are not. How many people died today because of their religious beliefs.

Unfortunately, wars are started in the name of religion. Buddhism teaches humans to follow the Middle Path and avoid extremes and also to practise loving kindness to other humans. It is a goal well worth acheiving. However it is also unfortunate that Buddhist countries tend to suffer from the most violent attrocities through idiots who are greedy and have no concept of peace.

If you are a guy Buddhism is for you, but not if you are a woman. Islam has been reported as devaluing women which is supported from it's holy writings. Hinduism also values women below cows and various other things. Orthodox Buddhism believes that if a woman lives a virtuous life, she will have the honor of becoming a man in her next life. That's why in many Buddhist and Hindu nations, often girl babies are left to die beside a road or hanging in a bag from a tree. I agree that many "Christian" are idiots and have historically done EVIL things, but Jesus was not like these so-called Christians. The New Testament actually says that there is now NO DIFFERENCE between male and female, slave and free, jew or greek, but that in Jesus, all people are valued equally. If you've traveled around the world as much as I have, you will begin to notice that women are valued in "Christian" nations 100x more than nations where Christianity has no influence. It's pretty scary. My wife has met women on house arrest from their husband. We know of girls sold into prostitution throughout the Buddhist world. I'd encourage you to check out who Jesus is and what He says in the Bible. Alot of new stuff has been written about Him, but is very poorly done historical research, sort of like the Da Vinci Code (great book, bad research). So, go to the Bible and read about Jesus. I love Matthew chapters 5-7 for understanding the message that Jesus was teaching. It's pretty amazing. If you want, email me at travelingschell@yahoo.com

Any justification to harm someone because of politics and say God told me, is basic stupidity. Religion has nothing to do with it. When looking at the three main religions, its easy to see the negatives in some of the teachings e.g hung all homos but love each other as you would yourself or warped interpretations of what Jihad is etc. We all know whats right from wrong.

Maybe if we all spent some time asking such questions and finding answers, humanity would be better off.

Probably a few Buddhist too--- they have quite some fights for control l of various temples around the East particularly.

I suppose everything is OK now in the Country that threw out the Dali Llama -- no unhappy Buddhist there.

If you are a Buddhist, you are sounding very negative at the moment. :)

Not ALL other religions are destructive and negative. Mine is not. Most others are not. If the teachings of God have been misconstrued and abused, is that God's fault?

Judge a religion based on its teachings, not its followers.

Best wishes.

Christianity is about freedom not destruction and certainly not negative. Faith in Christ sets us free from the chains that bind...believe me I know from very real personal experience. You must not confuse what people do in the name of a religion with God. I come from Belfast and have lived through the horrors of sectarian violence but it had nothing to do with God, it was man's wicked and sinful nature. Buddhists are well intended folk and the faith tries to be 'all things to all men' offending no one but it does not deal with the issue of man's inherent sinful nature and until that is done it is in-effect meaningless [no matter how well intended].

You need to seek God and the promise is you will find Him but to save you a lot of time look first at Christ, not those who bear the name but the God-Man Jesus, who is the only way to restore your relationship with God....and He died, not for religious beliefs but for you and me my friend....ponder it and find real and lasting peace.... God bless

Well, it was my understanding that Buddhism is a Philosophy... not a Religion (It doesn't have a belief in a higher power at it's center)..... And I would really like to see where people are being killed because they are NOT Pagan (Wicca is included in the Pagan category).

Yes, Buddhism is great and peaceful. I've also found my religion to be very peaceful-Paganism. But yes, most other religions are not good for humanity.

Cause what the religions really do is use God to get power!!! Thats why most of them tell you what to do, i know some church that says listening to music is bad unless is Christian! but they just made it up cause they want their people to be influenced only by them!
