20:71 (Pharaoh) said: Ye put faith in him before I give you leave. Lo! he is your chief who taught you magic. Now surely I shall cut off your hands and your feet alternately, and I shall crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and ye shall know for certain which of us hath sterner and more lasting punishment.

???what you talkin bout willis????

at first I had no idea what you mean by Pharoah crucifying somone and there is no story like that in the Bible

however I see there is a story like that in the Koran in sura 20
and you were quoting NOT the Bible but the Koran... OK ...that makes the issue different... you should have put a reference to the verses of the Koran you quoted since most people here would not have known

crucifiction was not a roman invention, but a Babylonian invention
the Romans perfected it

so in the story of Esther, Haman was 'hung' on a gallows he may have been crucified

This is a case where the Bible is reliable, the Koran not

Mohammed challenged Christians and Jews to check the Koran to see whether what Mohammed said in the 7th century was true.
In fact this puts Mohammed in considerable dilemna
It is not.. he assumes Chrstians and Jews can check and assumes the check will be in agreement and check they have and it does not agree as this examle shows the Bible to be reliable, the Koran not

i think the translators used the wrong word in crucifixion. As crucifixion is nailing a person on a cross, how can nailing a person on a straight palm trunk be called such. I think they used it to simplify the vizualization for the readers. Cite for instance, the nailing of the hands, is it throught the palm or the wrist? Practically, if in the palm, the flesh would rip off as the weight of the body is heavy. So probability is in the wrist. But why most pictures of jesus crucifixion is in the palm?

Crucifixtion is not a roman invention. Torturing people to death has been a part of humanity for as long as history records.

"Punishment by crucifixion was widely employed in ancient times. It was used by Assyria, Pharaonic Egypt..."

I've done a lot of reading on ancient Egyptian society, and I have never heard anything about the Pharoahs approving any kind of torture. They had a very advanced legal system for their time, and When they did put someone to death it was always quick.

There was a period of time where the Egyptian empire and the Roman empire overlapped. Cleopatra was rumored to be the lover of Marc Antony. It was her suicide that allowed the failing Egyptian empire to be conquered by Romans without losing face.

sorry, no, crucifiction is much older than romans...tho it was done in very different ways in different places,... really crucifiction is just death penalty...the romans did invent the method of using a cross and rope or nails tho.

Egypt and other places had the "death penalty" and that would have translated as "crucify" for a long time.

there are different ways to crucify.. the Roman form of crucifixion was probably adapted from the earlier form Pharaoh speaks of..

The Romans copied it from the Greeks who themselves copied it from the Phonecians.

The Phoenecians did trade with the Egyptians so did the Greeks

and who told you that this was the same method of crucifying that was used by the Romans ?
you're doing anything just to prove that Qur'an is wrong, why don't you put your tremendous energy in something more useful for humanity? because Muslims will not convert by reading this , they will hold more to their religion and try to defend it any way....!
