No, they are one of the vehicles most higly likely to tip. They also have removable doors and top, which make it easier to be ejected from the vehicle. For a new driver, they are very unstable vehicles, and kids will want to take it off-roading without proper off-road driving training, and they can easily tip the vehicle.

The wrangler is a very safe vehicle for anyone. It has a full steel, reinforced frame (cars do not), it has a roll cage in case you do flip over (cars do not), it is extremely reliable (most cars are not) and it has universal appeal (virtually everyone thinks wranglers are cool). My son is 14 and when he is old enough to drive, his first vehicle will, without a doubt, be a wrangler.
Make sure the one you get has a Dana 44 rear axle and NOT a Dana 35. The 44 is stronger. Try to get a 3.73 gear ratio if you can (most will have this but make sure). You want the inline 6 cylinder engine, not the 4 cylinder. The 6 is amazingly reliable and gets only 4 less MPG than the 4 cylinder. Transmission choice is up to you, stick or auto is fine. Auto is more convenient and less chance of your kid chirping the tires.
And last but not least, there are 1,234,971 things you can add to your wrangler to make it more capable and better looking. A good place to start is http://www.4wd.com

If you are infering that a kid is to drive the jeep i think you know the answer to that but if you are saying as a rider. As long as you have your child in a saftey restraint and you are a resposible driver (just like you should be in any vehicle you drive) you will be fine. I grew up riding in the back of the parents Jeep and know i have one and my kid rides in mine along with my dog. I have never had a problem. If you are trying to look to buy a jeep and you are young then all you need to know is that you just need to maintain good speed and wait to get to aggresive until you really know your vehicle. I have never heard of people just rolling over. There is always a stupid reason that they flip. As long as you wear your saftey belt you will be fine. My brother was hit in his jeep and flipped it over and walkd away with bumps and bruises. An accident is an accident in any vehicle

In my experience as a mechanic, Jeeps are not that safe (and not so safe to fix up either). They are a major pain in the azz and some of their parts break down easily or need to be replaced often. Don't waste your money on a Jeep.

mabey not safe but it is a good vehicle, it has a short wheel base which is easy to park and stuff so the low speed acidents are reduced but if you get in a high speed accident its not gonna be to cool. but I love my jeep and am very happy with its performance
I noticed that nothing that big should ever be driven by an in-experianced driver. I also drive a suburban and it is very easy to drive.

Short wheel base makes them kinda twitchy. Asides from that they are the same as any other viehicle when used correctly. Now jsut going back to my own child hood thinking. If I had a jeep the first thing I would do is take it off roading with al lmy friends. So you may want to keep that in mind.

For a young person to drive or for a small child to be a passenger in? To drive, no way, nothing that big should be driven by an inexperienced driver. Most SUVs are pretty safe to be a passenger in though.

I don't think any SUVs are safe for teenagers to drive because they've got a better chance at getting rolled. That's probably why my parents never bought one for my brothers or I to drive.

I would say no. I believe that the wragler has a history of rollovers which is not a good mix for a young driver.
