I'm looking for best picture quality, size, product quality etc...

as for those of you with the "give money to charity, you're selfish..." comments. Go blow... I give more to charity every year than you make for the whole year. Just because I spend money on myself doesn't mean that I don't help those who need it.

Mitsbuishi Diamond hands down. clearest picture i have ever seen. its crazy, and its only about 5800. DO NOT buy a tv without seeing one of these.

and dont go to best buy to get it. good lord. the pioneer elite has a better picture then anything best buy boy has in his entire store. go to a private shop, and look at a diamond.

I work for Best But and I know you can get a whole lot with $7,000. The Pioneer plasma flat-panel HDTV is a great one. It has the highest resolution on the market and is just an all around great TV. You can get all the accessories (i.e. power center, upconvert DVD player, Monster video/audio cables, surround sound speaker system etc.) for around that price. This is a break down:

Pioneer TVS:
42" plasma HDTV $3,500
50" plasma HDTV $4,500
60" plasma HDTV $9,500

Monster Power Center:
HTS-1600 $299.99
HTS-3600 $499.99

Monster Cables:
4ft HDMI 600 Series $99.99
8ft HDMI 800 Series $149.99
8ft HDMI 1000 Series $199.99

Home Audio:
Klipsch 420watt 10" Subwoofer $420
Klipsch 650watt 12" Subwoofer $510
SLX multi channel floor speaker $350
F3 3-way floor speaker $430
F2 3-way floor speaker $350
F1 2-way floor speaker $280

Upconvert DVD players:
Sony 5-disc upconvert $250
Sony Basic Upconvert $180
Other upconverts $70 - 135

Your possibilities are endless. You can come up with a couple of different complete packages that will fit your budget. Good Luck!

For that price you may be able to get a good front projector and screen and have a real home theater. Check magazine reviews from Widescreen Review or The Perfect Vision.

For rear-projection TV you don't need to pay that much for excellent picture quality at a full 1920x1080 resolution. Check into the Sony SXRD models (up to 70").

The biggest in size is 58 inches
The model is;

Panasonic 58" Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
Model: TH-58PX60U

It is brand new, so you will easily find it this weekend at any bestbuy store...

If you buy a 52 inch screen in five years you have lost money. These screen T.Vs are only holdiong value for five years and that's it. My best advice to you is too buy one used no more than five years old and save 60% of the cost and use that other 40% and invest it in stock.

Best is really a personal and subjective thing.

After years of looking, my personal preference came down to Panasonic plasma, 42", for reasons of:

picture quality
color reproduction
picture quality in really dark scenes
phosphor lifetime and burn-in resistance
built-in NTSC picture scaling quality
wide picture angle
great blacks
price

I spent hours comparing picture quality side by side with other manufacturers and researching things on the net.

But that was year ago. If I had to do it over again, I might go 50" rather than 42" just to get a bit more of a cinema effect when watching movies. Yet 42" is quite big for my viewing distance too (about 12 feet).

Others have recommend Pioneer plasma for picture quality. Sony Bravia LCD now seems to rival plasma. At the time I bought, I felt that LCDs looked washed and didn't have the picture quality that I liked. Things can change in the course of a year.

Sites that I think are really helpful for making this kind of purchase decision and getting recommendations:

Things to be on the look out for if you really want "Best" as in all the latest features and technologies:
1080p display support

2 or more HDMI interfaces (one for a DVR such as the TiVo Series 3 coming out this year and one for a Blu-ray or HD-DVD player)
Tivo Series 3: http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv8-wdgt&p=tivo%20series%203
Blu-ray: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=blu-ray&sp=1&fr2=sp-top&ei=UTF-8&fr=slv8-wdgt&ei=UTF-8&SpellState=n-2291366421_q-JDIlyXrogzwlCwNs2Iay2mMAAA%40%40
HDMI 1.3
http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv8-wdgt&p=hdmi%201.3

One thing that is necessary with any TV is to periodically adjust it to optimize the picture quality. It will change over time. I've really found Digital Video Essentials from Joe Kane Productions to be a really useful tool for adjusting the picture.

Look for either a Pioneer ELITE model or a Sony XBR model. Compare these with other brands and you will see the difference in picture quality.

Hi,
I use cheapest prices search engine to both compare prices and read the consumer written reviews. They have almost every store on the internet and over a million consumer written reviews.
I hope this helps you.
