This truly is the basis and the premise of the demand of amnesty for all immigrant workers, fully and immediately. It’s a fair exchange. This is the answer to the hypocrisy of the so-called free traders, the neoliberals of America, when they talk about free trade.

Yes but they should not work for sub-market value, the labor should be unionized to protect the rights of other workers too. Until the labor is better unionized, those who work for less than minimum wage will always undercut other workers. I agree with your main premise however. Perhaps the reason people work for less than minimum is because they cannot obtain full working rights in this country without having official documentation. Could total amnesty be the high tide to lift all our boats?

Perhaps here is the problem if you come in legally then you already can do that and eventually even get citizenship the reason everyone is so concerned about amnesty is that people who have broke the law will get handed permanent residency off the bat and now only have to work towards citizenship bypassing others who have been good boys and girls and struggled for years just to get temporary work visas. this sends the message that when another nation does not like our laws all they have to do is ignore it for long enough and we will cave I will remind you that the topic of immigration reform did not come up because American citizens thought we weren't being fair it came up every time because American citizens noticed the rules they laid forward were being laughed at by millions as irrelevant

What you are saying makes perfect sense for those who DO create wealth and jobs, and it would indeed be a fair exchange for permanent residence.

But...those "people" are not the majority. Immigrants cannot be recipients of domestic rights without contributing. They shouldn't get free health care, food stamps, housing, simply for LIVING here and applying for assistance. After years of hard work...the American way, only then should you reap the rewards and the paybacks.

Poor immigrants result in a negative economic impact. When you add up everything including taxes at the low levels poor people pay, the cost to educate them and give them services is more than the economic benefit.

That is why Mexico doesn't do it.

That is why we need to limit immigration to protect our own services and education for our own people.

That truly is the basis for immigration law limits.

Free trade has no subsidized social services. If they were not in the picture it might work. With those subsidized services, it does not.

Free trade would have these people pay their own healthcare, food stamps and education. The government pays way more for these peoples upkeep than the piddly taxes they pay, when they do pay.

How much income tax can a country make from a professional lawnmower?

That, and they are lawbreakers. Get out.

No
Why should the poor and sick and elderly get cut out with no breaks.

No Amnesty-too law breakers.

Mexico-needs to fix their own problems. And not dump them on us.

We have enough people to take care of here-we don't need more from anywhere--

Go buy an Island and do what ever you want there.

I believe anyone coming in this country illegally has illustrated to me that they have no respect for the laws. You got a good job? paying taxes? Improving your life? Too bad, your a criminal.... buh bye......come in the right way. Save the good jobs for the people who deserve them and who respect the immigration laws. The government doesn't care if you are gone, we'll just fill the job, still get our taxes, and won't have to deal with law breakers. So its a win-win for us.

The way you ask the question suggests that you're not really interested in the correct answer but rather try to calm down the inner voice in you.

Hey, take it easy and RELAX! There are people who care about you, OK?

Have a nice day!

It doesn't matter what a person is doing. If they are here illegally, they have no right to stay. They entered the country illegally. They broke the law just being here. They can pretend to be whatever they want, they are still law breakers.

only if they enter this country legally before they try to work here.we have laws that should be abided by not circumvented.I would hope that these people plan to work,to make value,to create wealth,if not please stay in your own country and make changes there.make your own government officials accountable.don't make demands from a country that you aren't even a legal citizen.
