havent used pro-tools before, but i know that fruity loops is especially good for creating techno songs.

No, fruity loops is nowhere...NOWHERE close to almost as good as professional approaches. in the experience that your chum even thinks that, it is going to reveal how little he/she knows digital recording approaches. contained eventually notwithstanding, skills and an outstanding ear make great music. Your chum may manage to make some cool stuff with fruity loops, and then even as he/she figures out what they're doing, they're going to change to professional approaches.
