"Cheney's Five Draft Deferments During the Vietnam Era Emerge as a Campaign Issue"
It is apparent that Richard Cheney did everything humanly possible -- short of fleeing to Canada -- to avoid military conscription: He applied for and recieved 5 student deferments, a number described as "incredible" by professor David Curry of the University of Missouri in St. Louis. Curry has written extensively about the draft, including a 1985 book, "Sunshine Patriots: Punishment and the Vietnam Offender."

I agree that Cheney is a hypocrite and that him being VP is a no value added format to a pathetic President. Cindy Sheehan is a woman on a mission and I support her for doing something positive. I feel for Cindy Sheehan, after losing a child we always ask why and look for answers, anything she does that can ease or help relieve, if only for seconds, the pain she carries I support.

Do you agree that Cindy Sheehan has no idea what she's talking about? She is just trying to get some more publicity because she's a stupid little tart.

I would LOVE IT if we could send Cindy Sheehan to Bagdad and let her loose on the streets. Then, she would truly understand what her son was fighting for... unless she died first - because, the terrorists would not take mercy on her.
I cannot understand what Cindy is about. I think she needs a doctor. Her son knew what he was in the military for, and I think he would be very sad and angry to see what his mother is doing.

Cheney is a slime-ball chicken-hawk who doesn't care about the troops because they aren't rich. Bush on the other hand, used privileges given to those of wealth to avoid combat. Bush, somehow, jumped to the top of the list to get into the Air Guard and then wheedled his way into a Phantom Air Guard unit in Alabama that apparently didn't require you to report for duty to get your points. The $10,000 reward for someone to come forward with proof they "served" with Bush in the Alabama Air Guard went unclaimed. If I had served with a future president, I would have remembered it.

HOW DO YOU THINK SHEEHAN SON FEEL RIGHT NOW ABOUT WHAT HIS MOTHER IS DOING? I THINK HE WOULD SAY BACK OFF MOM.... THIS WOMAN IS A FIRST CLASS NUT JOB.... AND MICHAEL MOORE IS ONE OF THE MOST UNAMERICAN PERSON THAT I KNOW. WHEN OUR COUNTRY IS AT WAR,IT IS TIME TO PUT YOUR PERSONAL AGENDA ASIDE AND WAVE THE RED WHITE AND BLUE FOR OUR TROOPS,, SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS,,,,I LOVE THE USA, AND I FOR SURE WILL SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT AND OUR TROOPS. I HAVE LOST A SON AND NEPHEW IN IRAQ. IT IS HEARTBREAKING, BUT WHEN I REMEMBER HOW PROUD MY SON AND NEPHEW WERE FOR DEFENDING OUR NATION . MY HEART SWELLS UP WITH PRIDE . YES I HAVE SEVED IN VIET NAM,
AND MICHAEL MOORE AND CINDY SHEEHAN CAN BOTH PUCKER UP AND KISS IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE

Yes. Both Bush and Cheney were unwilling to fight in Vietnam, which is OK, but now they're super-hawks who are very eager to send our troops into battle in an "elective war." Smacks of hypocrisy.

Not answering the call to service when you are fit to serve is weak and cowardly. So yes. Many people have died to keep this country free and to reap the benefits without making sacrifice is wrong. Too bad it's a sin of so many Americans.

angryamerikn you are indeed an ideal citizen for Dubya and his Nazi policies:-
"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country"
