I've done a bunch of online research already and am overwhelmed! If there's anyone out there who lives in the area, or has visited already, please help me out.
I'm planning to go for a week next year, but I'm not sure when's the best time to go. I've heard of "First Saturdays", are they every Saturday of every month, or just during certain times? That's just one example of what I'm asking...
I'd really like to explore all of what Savannah has to offer, so obviously, I'd rather not go during any known bad weather times.
Also, any tips on what to plan to do while I'm there, places to stay (I'd like something "Southern feeling" like a homey B&B or something), places to eat, etc. Anything you can offer that'd help would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance! :)
P.S.-I realize this is in the Atlanta section, but there doesn't seem to be a Georgia or Savannah category here.

Anytime is beautiful. Try the end of October for Savannah College of Art and Design film festival. Be prepared to see tons of celebrities there and see movies before they are out int eh theaters. For the Spring, plan now and visit for St Patrick's Day. It is the 2nd largest celebration int eh nation.

Be sure to read the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil before you go because all the tours refer to it. There is a trolley car tour you can take and it stops at all the places to see. I would suggest May or October. Not too hot and not likely to have hurricanes.

i would suggest going in the spring it`s just beautiful. don`t go to paula dean`s restaurant it`s not worth the wait trust me. Go on the Goast tour at night it sounds really corny but it`s reallyfun. i have been to savannah three times it has always been fun

I would suggest spirng or summer because it is a very beautiful time (botanically speaking). You could also check out this great blog
