The landlord should get you a new range/oven ( in a perfect world)You know the range is where the burners are . The oven settings for my hotpoint that the landlord should replace are: OFF at the top , to your right as you face it Broil, to the left Bake, below broil ,CLEAN in red and below bake,Timed Bake.Happy Friday in our imperfect world. Insert one happy face.Enjoy your new apartment, ask the landlord, what have you got to lose?

You can buy a replacement knob at Home Depot for a few bucks.

You either need to replace the knob with one that you can read or invest in an oven thermometer and use trial and error to determine the temperature.

Like everyone else said, talk with your landlord. Even if it weren't unsafe to use without being able to see the temperatures, you would end up burning a lot of food. I did that a lot until I figured out how far my thermostat was off, but at least I have something to work with.

Notify your apartment manager...guessing is simply unsafe. They will replace it.
