My son is 3yrs 4 months... I also have an 11month old girl. When they play on the floor together he will often almost squash her or kick her just because he is not aware of where he is placing his body or his feet. I don't think he does this on purpose. I really want to help him learn that there are other things and people around him that he needs to be aware of and not hit by mistake..Any suggestions?

give those special spots a name and tell him those are bad places that hurt people and make them cry that way he can assoicate them with pain and he might be a little more careful. Dont yell! Chidren at there age to understand yelling make it fun but let them know its not nice!

This is very normal I have 2 daughters ages 6 and 4 and a 6 month old son. My 4 year old is the one that is rather rough. We constantly have to tell her to watch what she is doing and for about 15 minutes after reminded she will pay attention to what she is doing. Some kids just pay more attention then others. So just keep reminding your son to watch what he's doing.
Good Luck

Umm...I have this problem as well. Mine is 3 too...I make a big deal if he steps on my toe or does anything like that...I tell him.."oh that hurts...will you kiss it? Say your sorry!" And you can do the same with your daughter, if he does anything make a big deal out of it so he will remember..."oh if I do this, I may hurt someone" It takes time, but it worked for us....being dramatic works with kids! Good Luck!

How about an old fashion spanking when he does this. Warn him a couple of times...then put him in time out...if that doesn't work, tell him you're going to spank him.

this is normal, just remind him to watch and be prepared to hug and kiss all the boo boos that will inevitably occure.
