antidisestablishmentarianism:

Originally meaning opposition to the disestablishment of the Church of England, it is now more likely to mean opposition to the belief that there should no longer be an official church in a country.

This is often used as a big word to show off.

Basically, it deals with the separation of church and state (specifically in regard to the Church of England being the official "state church" of England).

The word can be broken down like this:
- The "establishment" means the people in power or control (ie: the government).

- To pull the church out of the establishment is to "dis-establish" it.

- Those who were in favor of this were "disestablishmentarians," and their belief was "disestablishmentarianism." ('-isms' are basically 'sets of beliefs' or movements based on these beliefs, such as in "Buddhism" [belief in Buddha's teachings] )

- Those who were opposed were "antidisestablishmentarians," and their set of beliefs on the matter was...

Antidisestablishmentarianism.
