The Jeep CJ 8 Scrambler never came with a 360cid engine. Also to the guy about the early Cherokee's . IT is Quadra Trac, with no K.
My opinion is the Jeep SJ line. You know the full size Jeeps. Made from 1963-1991. The Gladiator Truck, J10,J20, J30, J2000, J3000 and on trucks. The Wagoneer, Cherokee(Pre 1984)
I own seven different Jeep models. Including the following: CJ5, CJ7,CJ8, SJ Wagoneer Custom, SJ Cherokee Chief, SJ J10, and a SJ J2000.
I will put my 1981 Jeep Wagoneer Custom up against any street legal Jeep or four wheel drive vehicle and I assure you, I would give anyone a run for their money. I may not win, but, I would not make it easy for them.

There are many Jeeps that use the straight 6 engine. My opinion is that the CJ series are the best. But any of the pre-Mopar Jeeps with the straight 6's are reliable. The only problem with the older Jeeps is that their bodies rust, however if you get a fiberglass replacement body you are good to go.

The Scrambler. It was basically a CJ with an AMC 360 in it. Pretty quick, and those were decent engines.
